conservativesforwomen.org/schools-and-libraries-need-help-in-safeguarding-children-and-this-must-transcend-party-politics

I have to admit I'm very impressed with this group (to my surprise)
I've started a new thread as it applies to several other threads but has a petition at the end. (I've also put on petitions board.)

They do seem to be very focused and action orientated.

I am also very impressed with this group. There is nothing like this in the Labour Party (WPUK getts violently harrassed every time they try to speak and the entire party has to declair loyalty to genderism or face expulsion)

I agree that penis monkey was a bizarre inappropriate idea for kids and I really don't understand how the group involved could have brought that costume with them. They are the ones at fault here.
On the other hand I worry the petition stops local parents and business people going in to schools doing one off lessons. I am a GP and gave a talk on health and the body to my son's nursery class. If I had red tape to jump over I probably wouldn't have bothered. Most adults helping schools and libraries out aren't waving willies about but have more sense.

adults working with children have safeguarding checks - that’s not red tape

SmokedDuck · 17/07/2021 02:27

Yeah, basically all school volunteers here do have to have record checks and such.

It can be a pain and I'm sure that for some people it means that it's just one more thing they don't have time for and so they don't do it. Which is too bad, but the best way to improve that is to make them as simple as possible to obtain rather than doing away with them.

The Labour Party have the Labour Women's Declaration which do good stuff, so they do have something similar. Agree this org is great.

ValancyRedfern · 17/07/2021 09:30

That's a great article. As a teacher I agree with every word about how these things work.

I'm just not feeling too hopeful about the traction the petition will get. Teachers are generally very 'woke' (especially the young ones, of which there are legion because retention is so bad) and the mechanics of Ofsted etc just seem a little dry and impenetrable to everyone else. I hope I'm wrong.

Plenty of GC women in the Labour Party, dyslek - you have many of them to thank for ringing the alarm bells when Theresa May etc. were parroting the TWAW line.

All the main parties have a gender politics problem and they all have brave women members standing against it.

2Rebecca This is really about organisations who offer and advertise advice, lesson plans, training and sessions on something that is compulsory in the curriculum. I think it's a non brainer that quality control is essential. There's a vacuum that these organisations have filled with absolutely no scrutiny or quality control.
