Mama G story time

is coming to a library near me...first time as far as I know. I recognised the name so looked him up and it was he of the twerking in a library/reading to kids session fame. Now, he may have dropped that bit from his act - let's hope! I thought I wonder what he reads. It looks like he reads his own stories, which I can't find online. Surely, surely, safeguarding wise - libraries would check what exactly he's reading no? Has anyone seen the act?

Why can’t they just get some people in who aren’t doing a performance? Out school would get WW2 veterans, policemen/women, etc in to read a poem or tell us stories.

I’d expect found these new ones scary as a small child.

I don't get why these performers are so sexualised. If they want LGB representation for children, then just invite some gay people to read to them, not dressed up? I don't think drag does anything to normalise homosexuality.

My local library had Mama G for a space theme for the moon landing anniversary (not a volunteer in a space suit then).

I was promised faithfully there would be no twerking or pronouns but I didn't attend. My complaint fell on deaf ears and I heard from others that there were glitter farts.

Anything to make the children laugh whilst presenting misogyny to them. Make it funny and acceptable.

I'm afraid you're going to have to contact the library to find out. In terms of safeguarding I was told that the DQ isn't alone with the kids so it's ok.

I've since discovered it's not the first time he's been here. I am very wary of sticking my head above the parapet and asking the library directly. There are so many more appropriate ways of spreading the LGB messages.

If they did this the kids wouldn't know the person's sexuality.

They shouldn't know the person's sexually. It's irrelevant.

But that's not what the T crowd want. Because it's not actually about reading stories to children.

Maybe get a crowd together and protest?

toffeebutterpopcorn · 17/07/2021 14:54

Well, can’t be worse than rainbow phalus butt monkey can it?

The good thing (and quite surprising actually) is that even the event company backed off on this one (rather than call everyone who complained ‘stinky poo ‘phobes’ like they usually do).

I was hoping that dragging small kids was on its way out.
