I have a copy, if anyone's interested.

it didn't bite me.

It's just setting quietly on my bedside table.

They need the hyperbole to persuade themselves that censorship is justified.

Irreversible Damage is trending in the US.

I honest to God thought that was a parody and a pretty good one at that.

I have been challenging myself to outdo it, but short of a free TERF scalp with every trans book, I came up blank.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 15/07/2021 22:18

@Olderbadger1

One of the totally proportionate responses on twatter, that edifice of reasonable eloquence...

@AnneOgborn
Replace every single person on your selection committee with a trans person. Commit to sending a pro trans book with every order for the next 5 years and drop the book's publisher, and any other publisher who publishes hate. Publish a complete account of how this happened, including names of all employees involved. Fire all involved in the decision and their managers, transitively up to the CEO.

Oh just ridiculous

How does this person even function…surely walking and thinking at the same time would cause them massive issues

StandUpStraight · 15/07/2021 22:19

Ah, interesting lionheart. Chicken or egg, I wonder.

You don't sleep with both eyes closed with that thug of a book sat right there, watching and waiting, do you? 😱

littlbrowndog · 15/07/2021 22:24

Jeez Pam. Hope you have cats

Cats will always defend against violent books.

They will piss on it and then hope you have a toddler as they will toss it int the loo

Double guarding

Oh no. Shock

Well if you don't see me again you will know what has happened to me at least.

PamDenick · 15/07/2021 22:29

It's still there.

No violence so far…

PamDenick · 15/07/2021 22:30

No cats. No toddlers.

Nope. Still not scared of it.
It's still an inanimate object...

StandUpStraight · 15/07/2021 22:33

I’m having visions of the toothy monster book that chased Harry Potter around the room. Now that was a violent book.

Stanleysaway · 15/07/2021 22:36

Anne is now saying they have to physically recover every single copy? Can't see more from them, sadly.

99point9FahrenheitDegrees · 15/07/2021 22:37

Mine is on top of the complete set of Cormoran Strike also waiting by my bed. It is too late for me. Save yourselves!

HeirloomTomato · 15/07/2021 22:39

I got the Kindle version. Much safer. No risk it’ll up and murder me in the middle of the night. Grin

Voice0fReason · 15/07/2021 22:41

Oh dear lord, how do they cope with life!

It's a brilliant book, I highly recommend it.

InspectorHastings · 15/07/2021 22:44

I also have this book. It's kept hidden from my woke child like a dirty secret. Every so often it gets lent to someone else, wrapped in brown paper, passed with a whisper.
Feels like a rerun of when Lady Chatterley's Lover was the most controversial book you could own.

Langsdestiny · 15/07/2021 22:48

Sorry I know its serious but that statement is so funny. Imagine sitting down and writing that.

NotTheFunKindOfFeminist · 15/07/2021 22:49

That statement may be in a history textbook one day, but not for the reason that they think it will be.

littlbrowndog · 15/07/2021 22:51

Leave it on their night stand inspector. With a wee cat filing their nails.

Nonmaquillee · 15/07/2021 22:54

My copy has been borrowed by a teacher at my DC’s school. I’m assuming she’s still alive….

The hyperbole is just astounding. They’ve used up all the most awful adjectives possible…so which words do they use to describe something that really IS violent and harmful? They’re going to implode…
