1. FWS are issuing the following statement on behalf of Marion Millar:

1. Today Marion found out her court date has been delayed so she will not be appearing on Tuesday. She is incredibly grateful to those who have offered to come to support her and in lieu of waiting at the court, she is pleased that she’ll be able to join in the shopping trip./

If they are waiting for the optics to improve, I fear they are on a hiding to nowhere. The sunlight is only going to get brighter and brighter by the week.

Peaked two more colleagues today, that comes to five this week! I am no longer going to keep quiet.

I suspect it's something more mundane like covid meaning not enough court staff.

If it were any other case I'd think that too, but I'm not convinced that's the reason @ItsAllGoingToBeFine

You may be right. Not sure it would require her lawyers to issue a statement if covid was the reason.

@dyslek what facts etc are you giving people to get to the peak moment, I keep trying but fear people just don't believe it/ don't want to believe it/ think I'm mad!

I doubt it's as sinister as we might think. Court stuff is bumped on ALL the time. Covid has caused a huge backlog so newer cases will be delayed in favour of ones approaching a time bar.

It may also be that's COPFS has asked for more time for investigation.

I'm sure all will become clear soon.

I see the headline has been changed, but it originally read something like 'Woman charged after ....'. They got a LOT of pushback on Twitter for that.

Ah, here's a link to a news organisation with that headline. Apols to the Star if they avoided that particular trap.

They’ve changed the wording! It definitely said “Woman charged...” before.

Oh I see the Star one (ignore me). Smart move though - just a photo and ‘36 year old accused of...’ that’s all we need. But which prison they are (hopefully) sent to may be problematic.

Not a single pronoun used in the Star’s piece; how much editing did that article undergo before it hit their site?

Do Canadian police follow the practice of recording ‘preferred’ gender for suspects? Will “Ruby” be officially recorded as a female sex offender?

The fact that ‘whatever’ the police record can be changed and changed again shows up the daft ness of their policy.

Good for the Star. If it’s illegal to use the appropriate pronouns, then avoiding them is a significant statement in itself.

Hope Marion is continuing to receive good support. It must be incredibly stressful for her.
