Not sure if there is a thread already.

Berry had said one of the first things she would do as mayor would be to set up a commission on the rights of trans Londoners

This is good. She's ensuring Londoners won't have to endure her as mayor.

PurpleHoodie · 15/07/2021 16:17

Yes.

PurpleHoodie · 15/07/2021 16:21

The torture, and rape of a ten year old child.

That is the type of person she openly, and personally supports.

She wants those type of men placed in women's prisons.

What rights do trans Londoners not have?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/07/2021 18:18

@FloralBunting

I mean, sheesh, if being one of the parties that vomited Challenor onto an unsuspecting world, has a misogynist as co-leader of the Green Party Women's group and calls women 'non men' isn't pro trans enough, I really dread to think what the endgame is.
Re that co-leader of the Green Party Women's group - after the gender critical co-chair, Emma Bateman, was suspended, the other co-chair, Kathryn Bristow, who is a transwoman, closed down a discussion forum because it proved impossible to stop women posting about women's issues.

Bristow works as a Pathways Adviser for Gender GP, the online gender hormone prescribing business whose patients include children and teenagers as well as adults, set up and run (originally - nobody knows for sure who's running it now it's moved abroad and been sold to a mystery outfit in Hong Kong, or similar) by Dr Helen Webberley and Dr Mike Webberley, both suspended by the GMC and facing a further hearing in the near future that could see Dr HW struck off the medical register.

This is another obstacle to voting Green as far as I'm concerned. No reputable political party should have any sort of tie with Gender GP.

@CatherinaJTV

That's a shame and a loss to the Greens. Not sure how it is going to improve their record on trans phobia, but hopefully a wakeup call.
ahahahahaha

ahh, that was a good one Grin

Thanks for posting that.

NiceGerbil · 15/07/2021 23:36

Interesting.

On the one hand it could be at face value

Or that once you have taken that stance you are kind of locked in whatever happens. With the court cases, stats stuff, prisons, sport etc etc maybe she thought I'm not sure about everything being pushed for any more. And so dips out of it while retaining her position as a supporter

Or maybe she's just had enough of the lack of focus on the environment, this topic being so divisive etc

Or maybe she just felt it was time to quit for other reasons

If she wanted out of this whole time consuming and very polarised topic she's gone about it in a clever way

PurpleHoodie · 16/07/2021 00:00

I wonder if she drives cars/travels by airplanes airplanes/owns tvs-modern phones-other electronics/buys take-away foods/uses one-off packaging (ie cups) etc

I'm always fascinated by the shenanigans (and everyday workings) of Hooray champers' "environmentalists".

PurpleHoodie · 16/07/2021 00:02

Many "Greens" had to turn to Identity Politics because they are no more than Faux Land Luvvies
underemployed

And people started taking notice.

NiceGerbil · 16/07/2021 00:24

Well certainly in the old days they were people who really cared about the environment and people in general as well. Poverty etc.

Now it's ???

I suspect many of the more long term greens still really care about that.

So many things are losing their way because of this current topic.

DdraigGoch · 16/07/2021 00:50

Reading through all of that waffle, I struggled to work out where she stood on the issue, and what the membership disagreed with her on.

NiceGerbil · 16/07/2021 01:06

Yes it was very non specific.

That's why I wonder if she is bowing out

EvenleyWitch · 16/07/2021 01:22

I don't understand all this 'fighting for trans rights' stuff.
I mean, we all have the same rights as human beings in the uk and any minority group discrimination is legislated against in the EQ 2010 and we're pretty good at upholding it, so what rights to transgender people want that they don't have already?

EvenleyWitch · 16/07/2021 01:24

@MarianneUnfaithful

Well maybe she should have restricted her headline manifesto issues to green issues, and remembered that they are the Green Party , not the Pink and Blue.

Over the last 5 years or so I have heard more from and about the Greens on trans issues than anything environmental.

Didn't they have that awful trans woman Amy someone or other who ended up sacked when it came out her father and partner were pedophiles?.
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/07/2021 07:36

Flounced, not sacked. Briefly joined the LibDems, then moved to the US to get married to a man who, amazingly enough, has also been accused of being a paedophile.

Freespeecher · 16/07/2021 07:49

I may have got the wrong end of the stick here but if it's true that leaders don't select the cabinet then it's always going to be hard to insist on a united front even on key issues. Assuming Shahrar Ali was the dissenting voice his views have been consistent for a while so why not content herself by setting a party line while accepting that, as with the country, opinion is divided on the topic?

OhHolyJesus · 17/07/2021 17:27

Investigated prior to flouncing.

I think the Greens (and other left parties) will tear themselves apart with this issue. It’s crazy…
