Whilst searching to see if Met officer Benjamin McNish had been dismissed for voyeurism (separate thread) I came across the Met News site and noticed this story
news.met.police.uk/news/officer-dismissed-without-notice-after-misconduct-hearing-430243 he also worked in the sex crime unit although was not working in it at the time of his conviction

I think it’s time to raise a concern about multiple sex criminals working in the Met police Sex crime unit

Sapphire got shut down years ago due to massive failures.

NiceGerbil · 15/07/2021 04:04

Did a quick search on article sapphire is not mentioned.

If you Google the failings that meant it was shut down are appalling.

No need for FOI.

it was all over the news how shit they were.

TrainedByCats · 16/07/2021 20:38

Thanks NiceGerbil sorry I didn’t realise anyone had responded. I’ve read some of the reports they were really shit Angry feels like the numbers of policemen convicted for sex crimes that have previously worked in sex crime units is too high but without being able to get centralised figures we’ve no way of knowing how bad it is.

Yeah it's awful.

The numbers investigated/ for s variety of sex crimes is staggering and incredibly worrying.
