Thanks for sharing ChristinaXYZ. Excellent speech.

Thank you.

Thanks Rosie. Glad to see you’ve not let the bastards grind you down. 👏

Two more:

Danny Kruger also mentions gender critical feminists in his speech on the bill: www.dannykruger.org.uk/news/higher-education-freedom-speech-bill-second-reading-12-july-2021

Joanna Cherry on the same bill. She has mixed views on the bill but acknowledges the problems with free speech in universities with particular focus on the effects on women and lesbians.

...and for the record, the Labour Party's response to the bill makes no reference to the women and lesbians being no platformed but does falsely claim the bill will allow holocaust deniers space etc (it won't).

The Labour Party seemed determined to deny women speech.

This thread is good, from the Labour resistance!

Wtf is wrong with the Labour Party? Seriously? Lies and distortions? Dogged opposition to free speech? Battling against women as if we were some unspeakable threat? It’s like a malfunctioning machine.

Thanks @morningtoncrescent62 . That's useful to have. I think the issue is so pressing I am delighted the government are bringing this bill. I acknowledge there are problems with some aspects: Danny Kruger makes some good points on the omissions including protecting students, not just academics, and freedom of conscience in being able to refuse to teach something. LabourWomenDec make a good point about poor job security adding to the issue.

As to the main Labour account on twitter, their views would be more impressive if they could spell the plural of university and write readable sentences!

So useful to know that Ms Duffield's majority is so huge that she can afford to reject trans voters.

That’s your take? Wow.

The monstrous regiment of women, eh.

That’s your take? Wow.

Agreed. The oppositional by default stance is narrowing some groups into very worrying positions wrt freedom of thought, non-compelled speech, and other features that used to be considered fundamental to a democracy.

Abhannmor · 14/07/2021 19:22

Do trans ppl vote as a bloc? It's just possible they have more than one issue to vote on also. Presumably they've got to pay rent and bills like everyone else.
