Keep saying this - it should be illegal to mis-report someone's sex in a criminal case. Women and men do have very different offending patterns and there's no point pretending otherwise.

It will certainly be recorded as a female crime. Zoe is in HMP Peterborough - a prison with a male section, a closed women's prison and a mother and baby unit.

All though the article doesn’t state that this is a male and in fact states they are a female, I, like every other person that has the use of their eyes, didn’t need to look past the first picture of them in uniform to know this is a male.

I think they put female in front because what this person did was very, very unusual behaviour for a woman.

In other circumstances, they wouldn't have put male because readers would assume this was a bloke.

But it's in the Mail, which from reading the odd link posted here, is less likely than other papers to really be going along with all the nonsense.
I maintain that if they could have got away with it, it would have had female in inverted commas.

I think that they do it to all reports of female crime (whether trans, or an actual female). Less often with male. Crime (particularly when violent) being unfeminine, the headline is more shocking and clickbaity. No point making it plain that a man stabbed someone in a park, it happens every day. If however a woman (pretend or otherwise) stabs someone, it is suddenly very newsworthy.
