Scottish mumsnetters: chance to tell the SG that we value sex-based rights

Apologies if this has already been posted, but I couldn't see it elsewhere.

The SG has a "what views do you like page" where you can add your own views and up- and down-vote views you like / don't like.

I saw a post by a Facebook friend urging everyone to go and vote against all the 'transphobic' views - things like the view that prisons should be single sex. There's a lot in there about women's rights - well done everyone who added those - and there'll be a lot of organisation to downvote them, so I would urge anyone resident in Scotland to go online and upvote them.

Great thanks. Can;t believe some have voted down the freedom of speech one. Shock

littlbrowndog · 01/07/2021 10:58

💪

Have added my votes

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/07/2021 12:38

Done. Many of the ones about women's rights are very well written and I can't see any reason to vote them down, unless of course what you are aiming for is the complete removal of women's rights.

ArabellaScott · 01/07/2021 13:25

Thanks. Interesting initiative. I wonder if it will have any actual value.

I very much doubt that. I suspect it's purely performative.

Seem to be quite a lot of people happy to do just that, looking at the votes.
ArabellaScott · 01/07/2021 14:34

Note that the app/site does show your name if you vote anything up or down.

I signed up anonymously, but where do you see names? (I don't)
Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 01/07/2021 14:59

I don't think there is anything to stop anyone from anywhere logging onto it & the votes don't seem to reflect public opinion Hmm

Lockdownennui · 01/07/2021 16:02

People on Facebook are crowing about how they have downvoted all the transphobic views so that they are all off the popular list. Apparently there has been a view added about along the lines of shutting out the 'well-funded' gender critical view, which is anti-LGBT+ and anti-women's rights. Depressing.

When you have put in a suggestion, you see the names of people who respond to it. I'm not sure about the wisdom of this scheme, actually. I see there is an option to link it to Facebook, too.

Hmm.

I clicked to have a look, saw it's linked to Facebook, and immediately clicked out of it.

Shame.

Hmm.

That seems a little unwise in general, particularly as the site doesn't obviously warn of this, and particularly as it asks for your full name as part of the sign-up process.
ArabellaScott · 01/07/2021 19:49

Yep. I think this looks very poorly thought-through. Ironically I was going to post a suggestion about making it easier for women to participate in public life by making protections online.

Waitwhat23 · 01/07/2021 22:03

I noticed a huge upsurge in anti-women votes and posts today with a lot specifically naming the 'danger' of gender critical feminists. I think a pp is right when they said this is all performative.
