Iain Anderson wants the UK be a "beacon of hope" for LGBT rights, no mention of women of course:

Lesbian numbers are actually increasing.

The number of people that identify as lesbians is increasing. Which is a meaningless statement when lesbian also includes males.

Talking of lesbian erasure, look up all the people desperate for us to believe that a transwoman sparked the Stonewall riots.

Stormé DeLarverie wasn't a transwoman, she was a lesbian, and the 'transwoman' they're referring to was a gay man.

That's erasing a lesbian, a key figure from LGBT history right there.

Writer: LGBT people today still face some forms of discrimination. That's bad.

Oh that's hilarious, given Pride kicked lesbians out of their own march for being, er, lesbians.

Oh, no, Datun, they were allowed to be lesbians. They just weren't allowed to say so too loudly in public. Wasn't naice. Lesbians are free... to keep their mouths shut unless it's to speak up for the poor beleaguered bepenised.

Ah yes, that's right. Free to do all sorts of things except actually speak, or I believe, eat pizza and sit on chairs.

yeahbutnaw · 01/07/2021 16:33

It's hilarious that you say "lesbians aren't allowed at pride" when what you mean is "a half-dozen trans-hostile people weren't welcome because they had giant banners saying trans people aren't welcome".

Unless of course you have some evidence that most lesbians are GC ideologues?

midgemagneto · 01/07/2021 16:50

Blimy the comments !

Cazzovuoi · 01/07/2021 17:02

The comments are amazing.

Re lesbian erasure. My 21 year old lesbian DD was called a transphobic cunt by a fellow penis bearing lesbian for telling her she doesn’t do girl dick.

It’s now transphobic to be lesbian if it doesn’t include girl dick 💁🏼‍♀️

yourhairiswinterfire · 01/07/2021 17:21

because they had giant banners saying trans people aren't welcome

I assume you can link us to the banners that said ''trans people are not welcome at Pride''?

Because all I can see is

''Lesbian not queer''. Lesbians are entitled to reject the slur queer if they want to.

''Lesbian=female homosexual''. That's true.

''Lesbians don't have penises''. Also true.

''Transactivism erases lesbians''. If anyone believes that lesbians asserting their sexual boundaries are ''transphobic'', then they are erasing lesbians.

Only a homophobic fan of conversion therapy would expect a lesbian to be willing to accept dick.

highame · 01/07/2021 17:24

Just been back to check out some more comments. There is an evangelical bible basher making a comment which is so out of step that it reminds me of my visit to a Baptist church as a kid and loving the hell fire and damnation. We are a nation of free speakers, he is entitled even if I'm offended

DialSquare · 01/07/2021 17:38

Rubbish. No-one is erasing lesbians. Lesbian numbers are actually increasing.

Well the numbers will Increase if anyone can be a lesbian.

Datun · 01/07/2021 17:38

because they had giant banners saying trans people aren't welcome

Nah. Many of us were there, and the rest of us were all following it, remember?

Datun · 01/07/2021 17:42

Extraordinary. Absolutely no one is buying it.

Ian, you probably thought it was good to get a little bit of publicity for the cause of 'marginalised' groups. It is 4.16pm, there are 266 comments and not one of them has praise for your cause or is even in favour of it.

FloralBunting · 01/07/2021 17:59

Giant banner saying that lesbians are female homosexuals, you say? That is transphobic, you say?

It's so helpful when someone comes along to give a real time demonstration that lesbians must keep their sexual orientation respectful or stay quiet. Most accommodating of you, yeahbutnaw. Keep it up. I can't be here all the time, and it's so much more expeditious to have you just tell everyone that lesbians should shut up unless stating that there are male lesbians.
Everyone tends to think I'm exaggerating. I'm all for easing female burden. Crack on.

TheFnozwhowasmirage · 01/07/2021 18:02

Interestingly, not one of the half a dozen gay/ lesbian family and friends I have, have said anything about Pride month or celebrating it on any of their social media feeds. This wasn't the case in previous years.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 01/07/2021 19:19

Just so that we know whose rights matter above all else (as if we needed yet another reminder).

The shining beacon of Ireland and HCPs who think it's inappropriate to prioritise the desire of a woman patient for a female HCP for trauma-informed care:

And I’d really hope that if you did have Trans colleagues that they wouldn’t be outed to service users [as not the requested sex]. It’s essential that more patients and services users have a choice around their preferred caregiver but mustn’t facilitate discriminatory behaviour in practice

archive: archive.is/c2Gzu

Anyone startled at who wins out in this conflict of intersecting rights in a country with a lacklustre track record in women's rights?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/07/2021 20:43

That makes my blood boil, Embarrassing.

Cowbells · 01/07/2021 22:19

@yeahbutnaw

Mumsnet: Bullshit. The rainbow is political. Gay people were nicer when they were quiet. Conversion therapy is good actually. What about me, why isn't this about me?

Where to begin? Conversion therapy was brutal intervention against the natural state of the gay person. Trans medication is brutal intervention too. Questioning it (NOT banning it or denying it totally) is a worthwhile step given surgery is an irreversible process and its legacy could be devastating for someone who is too young to know if they are trans or gay.

When has MN ever suggested gay people should be quiet? Many of the GC posters are gay. And on the subject of 'being quiet' - not at all. MN is constantly asking TRA to enter into discussions about issues that affect biological women. It is biological women who are told to shut up or have their families attacked, be raped and killed by trans activists. If I were trans I would be vociferously against such brutal blatantly misogynist threats.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 01/07/2021 22:21

@Ereshkigalangcleg

If people have a notional Oppression Trumps Championship score running in their heads in which the needs of one group must always take precedence over that of asylum-seekers whose history indicates that they need trauma-informed care - why are they even in healthcare? What makes them think they model the empathy and compassion that they need to be able to convey to students (in the case of one of the more adamant nurses there)?
NiceGerbil · 02/07/2021 02:29

I'm surprised.

It's about gay people- homosexual people mainly. It mentions the awful laws etc around the world.

Did he miss a memo?
