I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

My over riding concern are my adult children, and the livestock.

Who actually do take precident as my children are all independent adults, living elsewhere.
The livestock/pet animals have only me to protect them.

SpringCrocus · 01/08/2021 23:14

And the pile on on my now deleted thread, elsewhere, was a bit brutal. Feeling bruised. Going to hide under the lovely cashmere blanket and drink gin with Camilla. She's nice, even if she does dribble!

Waitwhat23 · 01/08/2021 23:21

@SpringCrocus Flowers with a hope that everything sorts itself out for you soon.

As long as Camilla doesn't dribble into your gin, it's golden!

SpringCrocus · 01/08/2021 23:31

Camilla dribbling, if its a hot night, is quite cooling!

BlackeyedSusan · 02/08/2021 00:41

passes camilla a bib.. and a bucket of water.

Flowers spring.

didn't see you other thread.

SpringCrocus · 02/08/2021 03:23

Never mind, it's gone, now. I guess it wasn't really a pile on, but it wasn't helpful, at all. It certainly made me feel worse!

I’ve brought in more cheese straws, some pastries and put some coffee on. I think it might be a long day today. Hope everyone is warm enough under the blankets. Adding 💐 for Spring too.

I’m still waiting on responses from Labour and Lib Dem PCC candidates.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 02/08/2021 11:34

@SpringCrocus

Cheers for the Gin, it IS grim, and I'm not apologising for not being tolerant of those who don't seem able to grasp it.
I have an assortment of family friends and various relatives in rural areas and I'm always taken aback by the complexity of their businesses and every social interaction.

The wellbeing of animals is such a huge area when relationships break down.

There are so many examples on MN of women who can't walk away from a relationship or go to a refuge without first making elaborate arrangements for animals that they can't take with them because they fear for them if they're left behind or may already have heard threats to them.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/08/2021 02:26

Not easy when the other half doesn't want a divorce or is buggering it up on purpose.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 03/08/2021 12:23

I don't think people on here have a clue about rural living and businesses, on divorce.
It's so very difficult.
Oh, @SpringCrocus. Horses are such a massive responsibility - it's why I don't have one.

I live fairly rurally and have done for most of my life, and it's very different from living in a city. The web of social connections is massive and overlaps with the web of professional/work/ business connections (so you wind up knowing your GP's mother). This can be great, and very supportive, but if things go wrong it can be tough, because everybody knows everything (or thinks they do). 'Private life' is a concept.

Flowers and I hope you get the animals settled.

mollythemeerkat · 03/08/2021 12:58

Spring - yes get it and keep horses too. Would be an ENORMOUS responsibility to lose grazing etc and horrendous dealing with a divorce at the same time. And changing weather patterns are making it so hard for farmers and people keeping livestock. Can only send support and hoping you get through to the other side as soon as possible.

SpringCrocus · 03/08/2021 23:38

I've put the huge difficulty about the the loss of keep, difficulty of maintaining my business, looking after the horses , the teaching, and my earning potential, in my petition

But, its so very hard, and yes, tangled

SelfPortraitWithEels · 04/08/2021 17:41

Hello. Just popping in to eat some cheese straws, give the camel a quick pat and drop off these Flowers for Spring. Had a lovely nourishing conversation with my feminist tribe offline, so feeling hopeful - and sending courage to everyone who's feeling beaten down.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 05/08/2021 22:46

I've just bought 3 more books to read. Grief knows when I delude myself I'll be able to do this.

I'm having an elderflower cordial with some fizzy water. I'm making cheese on toast if anyone fancies it.

SpringCrocus · 05/08/2021 23:25

Ive had a productive, indoors (wet outside) day
Deep cleaned my bedroom, loads of stuff now in charity/recycling/waste disposal/swap with friends/Vinted bags.

Promising feelers re livestock/grass keep homes.

"D" H wants couples councelling Hmm, will think about this.

Yet more fab wimms in Olympics, and bright sunshine focussed on TRA bonkersness, elsewhere

And just finished Trans, so sending it to my local library.

Gin and home grown, home made veg crisps, anyone?

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 06/08/2021 00:31

home grown, home made veg crisps, anyone?

Ooh, yes please.

I've made up some doughs, so there will be pastries and a selection of bread for breakfast.

ablutiions · 06/08/2021 06:24

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman I was lurking nervously until I saw the virtual red Marlboro. I'm in, if I may.

Not too much nonsense in my work sphere this week. Other than a big hairy bloke using signature pronouns to announce that he is in fact, a man. Ridiculous, And another male colleague kindly explaining to a customer that 'Ablutions will be quarterbacking this project '. What does that even mean? Not strictly a Bluestocking thing but it got my goat (poor goat has been got a lot recently and is feeling somewhat pestered).

Mine's a gin Martini, shaken, with olive. Thanks. Oh, and hello everyone Grin

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 06/08/2021 10:00

I'm not the doorkeeper, anyone can wander in, so you are very welcome.

I know it's early, but my life is a stress-blitz at the moment, so I might be joining you with the gin at 12 sharp.

Would the goat like to share the paddock with Camilla the Camel? She arrived squashed in a pocket with the Marlboro, but has come on nicely since.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 06/08/2021 10:01

@SpringCrocus, just saw your update. Fingers crossed for the livestock.

highame · 06/08/2021 10:11

The f*&king voles are still here. I thought they'd gone, I still have my fingers crossed because there isn't so much mess around but think I'm being over optimistic.

I have brought Camilla some knitting wool and needles so she can knit some Suffragette ribbons because the lovely Tom is likely to have started a craze and we shouldn't miss out.

You sound more cheerful Spring that's good news.

ablutiions · 06/08/2021 10:26

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman I think the goat deffo needs a sanctuary of some kind, fenced preferably, to stop me coming and getting it all the time.

I just realised that it was 6am when I posted about wanting a Martini. Too early ?

SpringCrocus · 06/08/2021 11:49

Can camels even knit? What with lacking opposable thumbs (or indeed, fingers)

The Bluestocking is a liminal place of many possibilities.
highame · 06/08/2021 15:52

They can also tap dance, so we're good for a cabaret when required
