Guardian article - interesting use of pronouns

Here's the article. CeCe Telfer cannot go to the olympics because Telfer i̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶c̶h̶e̶a̶t̶ has not met the eligibility requirements www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/jun/24/cece-telfer-transgender-runner-olympic-trials

What I found interesting is that the article refers to Telfer as 'Telfer' throughout, only calling Telfer 'she' when giving direct quotes. Are they coming to their senses over there?

The byline says 'Agencies' which I think (tell me if I'm wrong) means it's come from a news agency not their own sports desk? Still interesting that they actually printed it I suppose but I'm not sure it means the Guardian has fallen just yet Smile
