Just had a note to say my copy of Troubled Blood will be delivered this morning.

Thought it might be of interest to anyone else who wanted to give JKR some extra support, but hadn't wanted/been able to afford the hardback book.

I'm looking forward to reading it! I just got into the series in the first lockdown and over the summer, and was disappointed to have to wait for the paperback. I might have to re-read number 4 now just to remind myself, not the mystery bit, but how things have ended with Robin and Strike's personal lives...!

It's a particularly good one. Probably one of the best Strike novels. I got it on Kindle- it was a bit cheaper than the hardback.
I won't do anymore spoilers.

I have the brick version! It was a huge lump of a book. I couldn’t put it down though. Enjoy!

NewYearNewTwatName · 24/06/2021 10:41

oh I'm terrible with titles of books and got all excited that there was a new one, then went to my kindle and there it was already read Sad

Hope you enjoy it OP

It's just arrived, and I have to say that the paperback is quite a brick in itself! Sort of tempted to wait til holidays to start it but I probably won't... besides, it's long enough that it should last til then anyway.

oh sorry, for the disappointment, NewYear!!

I hope there are more in the pipeline - I think I read somewhere about it being a nine-book series or something?!

CaramelFlatyes I think you are right about there being 9, as I remember discussing it on another thread before.

I read them all back to back recently. Splashed out on the hardback for TB given its size! Really, really enjoyed it. Happy reading!

Yay [grn]

Enjoy.

I never managed to get past the third HP book, so have never read any of this series but the world would be dull if we all enjoyed the same things.

My Abigail Shrier is worming its way to my local bookshop, so hopefully I will have that soon.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/06/2021 11:59

Different genre from HP, Toffee. Strike books are crime novels, set 2010 onwards.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 24/06/2021 12:19

Oh yes , lovely murders. No magic school kids...

heathspeedwell · 24/06/2021 12:22

I've enjoyed all of the Strike series but this one really is her best writing so far, her social observations are incredibly insightful. I hope you enjoy every minute of it!

Feeling quite tempted to read it all over again...

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 24/06/2021 12:22

The Kindle edition is now down to £4.99 - it was over a tenner before. Yay!

Lisz · 24/06/2021 15:21

Prices reduced everywhere for this. WH Smith’s had signs up in the window offering half price in its 2nd week on sale.

Who can say why Hmm ..

SapphireSeptember · 24/06/2021 15:24

Fantastic! I hope you enjoy it! My friend gave me the hardback version for Xmas, I think it's the biggest book (apart from Lord Of The Rings) I've ever read. Also never been a fan of crime novels, but these are brilliant, (another friend passed on the ones she had, as she had the first four, and I've been devouring them.)
