Men/Prostate Cancer ad on the telly.

It’s being shown at the start of every episode of the program I’m binging so I’ve seen it a lot.

It’s a celebration of men from birth to death, it’s actually pretty beautiful. And ends by saying one man dies of prostrate cancer every 45 minutes.

Men men men man man man male male male.

So how come this is allowed and yet we have to be people with uteruses, vagina havers?

Well I think we all know why. This just illustrates it perfectly.

I am a man and i think the rank hypocrisy of the male cancer adverts is disgusting. Womens canceer charities bend over backwards to be "inclusive" in their language to accommodate less than 1% of the population but i remember when i was still going into the office the one main road having adverts on every bus stop for prostate cancer with the slogan "men we are with you" or words to that effect

Veeta · 23/06/2021 22:12

Yes I think the difference in medical stuff is really where the issue becomes clear. Someone posted these links on another thread (apologies to the poster, I can’t remember who it was, or which thread).

Omg those links! Shock So what about the transwomen who still produce spermatozoa?!

Anyway, yes OP. It’s because women are at the bottom of the pile.

Bimblybomeyelash · 23/06/2021 22:30

Oh my Gosh, are those links for real? That can’t be real?

Veeta · 24/06/2021 08:01

I’m afraid I think they are real. Edited by the same person, and reviewed on the same date. And still no awareness of the hypocrisy - female is a floaty concept, male is simple biology.
My gast was flabbered when I first saw them too.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 24/06/2021 08:10

This is where beeee kiiiiind leads too. It starts off with “who does it harm to describe call transwomen women rather than transwomen?” And ends with women apparently unable to be defined because we’re not allowed any words of our own

Once you include any man no matter how they present in the definition of woman then woman meaning adult human female ceases to exist

If you can’t define women you can’t write laws & policies ti protect and support them or have any spaces just for them. Which is why words matter so much and why enforced pronouning needs to get in the fucking sea

This appears to have been removed. Anyone got a screenshot?

Horizons83 · 24/06/2021 08:31

The links still work for me @OttilieStonelady

I think it may have been me who posted them initially, I think I saw them on a Twitter feed. I was Shock when I first read them.

littlbrowndog · 24/06/2021 08:59

Still there. I can see them

Veeta · 24/06/2021 08:59

Ah thanks Horizons, sorry I could not remember where I saw them first - I was so Shock I saved them.

I can have a go at posting screenshots if the links don’t work for everyone, never done it before though so bear with me.

Screenshots, it’s ‘just’ an online health resource, not statutory. But still 😒

Yes, absolutely, very glad it’s not a definition from a government body, it’s just a particularly egregious example.

littlbrowndog · 24/06/2021 09:20

And this. Men are men. Women are vulva owners

Veeta · 24/06/2021 09:25

WRT the advert from the original post, I found it incredibly moving, a really well-crafted message. It’s such a shame that because of the language around women’s health we now have the reaction of ‘they’d never get away with that for a woman’s cancer now’. I mean, maybe it could be done without protests about ‘inclusivity’, I don’t know. This approach is simple and effective and I think that’s my main problem with a lot of the messaging around ie smear tests. If it’s not simple and clear it won’t be effective.

Veeta · 24/06/2021 09:26

Oh god, ‘vulva owners’. Make it stop.

peadarm · 24/06/2021 10:12

Changes are happening a little deeper down the rabbit-hole: for example, Prostate Cancer UK explains what people have a prostate:

"men
trans women
non-binary people who were assigned male at birth
some intersex people"

It would be no good thing to have 'equality' in this respect, 'people with prostates' etc is just a second front in the war against women.

Prostate not prostrate, fuck you auto correct.
I had a friend who always talked about her husband's prostrate cancer.

What?!

Oh fuck off medicinenet.

Jesus.

Simple, clear health messaging for men and women is not a big ask.

“It’s not so simple nowadays”. It is! It really is!

That's a very pointed contrast - and both updated on the same day too.

Perhaps their bottom line is that the threats come overwhelmingly from males who identify as women rather than females who identify as men.

And the billionaires who fund the TRAs tend to be male.
