Sex in the Census update today; next steps

For all those who took part in the #SexInTheCensus campaign, an update has been released today with next steps:

"Thank you for writing to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to instruct them to collect your data in line with biological sex. We understand that the ONS is now sending out letters in response.

In their response, the ONS have wrongly assumed that the Fair Play For Women legal victory meant correspondents were happy for their data to be collected in line with the ruling......"

I wasn’t involved in the census as I don’t live in the UK, but thank you to all those difficult women.

Please continue to be difficult.

Just a reminder that a lot of groups collaborated on this. I can only imagine it must have been pretty difficult to co-ordinate, given almost all these groups are run by volunteers, and I want to thank the women involved. Such tenacity.
