And yet another one bites the dust - although the comments (albeit very few) are quite heartening.

Their Facebook feed has the following:

It isn't just people who identify as females who have a period and more education is needed to recognise this!

Trans men and non-binary people can have periods as well as those who identify as female and it is important to raise awareness and acknowledge this 🩸

As part of our language and Inclusivity week, we are taking the steps to educate ourselves that periods should not be labelled as 'female' and should be inclusive for all! 🙌

Join our campaign and donate to help end the stigma and beat period poverty!

At some point in the future (I pray it's sooner rather than later) people will just piss themselves laughing that false, patronising and ridiculous statements like that were ever published with any sincerity.

'Identify as females', for goodness sake.

Aw good on them. I'll make sure I spend some cash there. Very forward thinking. Thanks for letting me know!

StillWeRise · 18/06/2021 23:41

mmm, and the propotion of potential customers in favour of erasing women is...???
check the bottom line, ethical superstore

If anyone can truly be what they identify as.. I am now identifying as a woman who doesnt have periods with the intensity of the lift scene on The Shining.

I’ll let you know how I get on in about 3 weeks...

Why do I always get the feeling that you are purely contrary and will just say the opposite of whatever is said here? Also means you don't actually have to formulate any POV.
toffeebutterpopcorn · 19/06/2021 08:56

What’s forward thinking about erasing the word woman/expanding the meaning to include anyone on the basis of ‘feel like’?

In the grown up world of medicine, science, tech design, access, safety,,, these things matter.

Obviously transmen and non binary can have periods... But those who identify as women? I would take that to mean transwomen - who obviously don't need period products. No mention of women, it's baffling.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 19/06/2021 09:07

‘Identify’ is such an odd word isn’t it. I don’t identify as a woman because I am a woman. I don’t actively need to do/say/think it - I just am.

Findwen · 19/06/2021 09:08

I was hoping for some advice, until this June I have always identified as a boy for the start of my life, then a man for the rest of it.

For Pride month, I thought I would be non-binary for half of it and female for the other half to help me empathise with those who are most oppressed. I've not made any changes to my appearance or mentioned it to anybody as I didn't want to make a fuss.

I'm deeply troubled by this thread though:
"Trans men and non-binary people can have periods as well as those who identify as female and it is important to raise awareness and acknowledge this 🩸"

When I read this it has given me great concerns - I was planning on taking the kids to the country park some distance away, will I get warning before my first period ?

I think they are attempting to refer to 'cis' women without using the word women.
toffeebutterpopcorn · 19/06/2021 09:18

The word women will do.

OhDear2200 · 19/06/2021 09:28

You can see the self congratulations that followed this. The pats on backs. The ‘look at how inclusive we are’.

While the irony of their actions just passes them by.

Just remember women…fuck you!

groundcontroltomontydon · 19/06/2021 09:31

As a consumer irked by misogynist bullshit I've unsubscribed and in future will be buying my expensive vegan products from somewhere that doesn't treat me like an idiot

Whatwouldscullydo · 19/06/2021 09:32

Trouble is you can't win. They think you are exclusionary if you talk about sex and women. But then if you go along with the belief system and say you aren't comfortable talking about it with men then you are also exclusionary. Not sure what people want tbh

Yep some great responses on their Facebook posts though. Was a regular customer but will look elsewhere from now on
