The RSE Curriculum 'The Welsh Variant'

Along with many of our members and followers - teachers, social workers, parents and grandparents - we have been following the creation of the mandatory Welsh RSE curriculum with interest and will be responding to the consultation.

One of our long-time concerns has been in relation to the training and resources on offer from trans lobby groups and activists, and proponents of Queer Theory. The latter prioritises gender over sex and takes a 'boundary-breaking' and porn- and kink-positive view of sexuality.

The author of this article in The Critic appears to share those concerns...

"Yet while in England, it appears as if these ideas are finally meeting a deserved end, in Wales, the opposite is happening. The Welsh government is proceeding full steam ahead with an RSE curriculum for children aged 7-18 that peddles the worst of gender ideology.
In Wales, the new statutory RSE curriculum will come into force in September 2022. It uses a set of resources called Agendaa_, developed by Emma Renold, a Cardiff University advocate of queer theory, which insists that biological sex is socially constructed, and that gender can be wrongly assigned at birth. This once-niche set of beliefs originating with the academic Judith Butler is now being presented to seven-year olds as an established truth."

Very worrying indeed OP. I'm behind on what has been happening in Wales. Can anything be done? If there is action to take, for those outside of Wales please do shout.

I don't really know much about how the Welsh Government works: is it correct that, like Scotland, there's just the one house (the Senedd) and no second chamber for oversight? How would such an RSE programme be stopped? Would the Welsh Govt need to be taken to court?

I am really, really concerned about this. Welsh Gov just don't seem to be listening on this at all. Not at all. We need a really strong response to that consultation.
I can barely bring myself to think what this is going to do to kids - all of it is grounded in Queer Theory, there's an ideological lens from the very start, it fails to address the things it really ought to (like porn) and it leaves so much space for dodgy external agencies to peddle their nonsense. Which I'm sure they will, as teachers won't know where to start with this.
It has to be brought back from the brink. We can't even opt out.

No second chamber and precious little scrutiny or accountability Lysys. Plus no media to investigate.

There's a consultation - hopefully lots of teachers and parents will respond to that - but I suspect the devil will be in the detail. A vague and woolly curriculum full of 'diversity' and 'acceptance' that then allows Stonewall and their adherents to jump in with training and unicorns. Meanwhile girls are in a state of siege.
