Help with wording for letter about Stonewall

Sporranrummager · 14/06/2021 15:12

Employer has made a donation to Stonewall to underline their commitment to equality and diversity.
I want to write a letter pointing out that Stonewall hardly represent equality for women but I don't know how to word it.
Can anyone help?

Hi there, are you in a fairly secure position in your employment to raise your concerns about Stonewall? I don't want to discourage you, but you should think through any possible implications.

You could pick out portions from these two letters to help you draft something to your employer. You can tone down the message and change the wording so it's more relevant to your place of work. Maybe compare with any other forms of diversity training, if they exist, like for disabilities etc.

Good advice from Nonny

Other thoughts:
-how did they arrive at the decision to donate to SW? Is there a staff committee for example? If not, why not?

  • you may want to reference all of the protected characteristics (which should be served by the commitment to equality and diversity) - which charities will be chose to represent some of the other protected characteristics?

This page also provides evidence of SW campaigning to remove single sex exemptions:

It's still on the live website here - 4th bullet: www.stonewall.org.uk/women-and-equalities-select-committee-inquiry-transgender-equality
