Beyond Opposition project

Anyone here come across this before or filled out their questionnaire?

beyondopposition.org/

This project seeks to move ‘Beyond Opposition’ in the face of increasing social polarisation in the UK, Canada and Ireland. It will consider how recent social and legal changes to sexual and gender rights impact different people within these countries. The project will initially focus on the experiences of individuals or groups who do not support these changes.

I filled out the questionnaire. There's a 20 minute time limit for each of the sections. It took me a lot of effort not to type out really long essays!

No but googling the researchers suggests they are all fully paid up Queer Theory believers.

Warmduscher · 12/06/2021 08:16

It’s “impact on” not “impact”.

One of the researchers ( Dr EA) signed this open letter, I believe. The letter claims:
“We further insist that Shall’s letter did not contain false information in stating that “A Women’s Place” provide a platform for hate speech. This group is committed solely to campaigning against trans rights, as enshrined in legislation such as the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and the Equality Act 2010. Speakers at events hosted by “A Women’s Place” have propagated ignorant and harmful narratives through the use of offensive stereotypes, drawing a false dichotomy between trans rights and women’s rights, and misrepresenting both empirical research and current laws. The group has thereby played a role in creating moral panic about trans people’s role in public life, and contributed to atmosphere of fear and shame among trans people.”

This made me very wary about taking part in the research and I decided not to do so.

Hmmmm not convinced this research isn’t going to be like the stonewall research on women’s refuges where they ignored all the responses that didn’t support their view that having TW in women’s refuges wasn’t a problem and only published the supportive ones

Theeyeballsinthesky · 12/06/2021 09:17

I.e. they’ll only want to publish responses that accord with their world view that GC feminists are big meanies

SpindleWhorl · 12/06/2021 09:18

I wouldn't them to have access to any of my personal data tbh.

NonnyMouse1337 · 12/06/2021 09:34

Oh good find ChickenonaMug. I knew they were full on Queer Theory believers after a brief search, but didn't know that bit.

SpindleWhorl I don't remember any person data being gathered, or if there was any it was entirely optional. I certainly didn't put any identifying info in my responses, but then I do that for questionnaires in general anyway.

I saw a targeted Ad for this on Facebook. Seemed rather biased, and as Spindlewhorl said I didn't fancy giving them any data.

“We further insist that Shall’s letter did not contain false information in stating that “A Women’s Place” provide a platform for hate speech.

Shall is one of the people persecuting PhD student Raquel Rosario Sanchez (see case v Bristol Uni), so I can't imagine this is in good faith, though happy to be proved wrong

NonnyMouse1337 · 12/06/2021 10:11

We should have a giant whiteboard with all the names and connections between the various TRAs / Queer Theory believers. Smile

That board will expose the gravy train and revolving doors the big charity/ research bodies/ political appointments and commercial relations those activists tread.

Likewise - solid not with a bargepole from me.
