@Packingsoapandwater, I think you are spot on there.

I spent most of the 90s at Lib Dem by elections and very much agree, successful seats had a nucleus of local “pavement pounders” who would then be supplemented by the students and the free-range activists.

After Clegg the party lost so many council seats that those local teams and organisations disappeared, especially in the north. It seems to have been forgotten that the party used to do well in northern seats against Labour, that ground has been ceded and now it’s just Tory-lite.

I joined the lib dems after the referendum. Like everywhere - some lovely people, some less than lovely people, some wankers who just enjoy politicking.

It's very male dominated - about 90% of the local exec. Very pro trans (the central party gets money from big pharma). There's a few incels around.

I quit because well, brexit has happened now. And I won't be repeatedly interrupted by blokes in every meeting if it is not going to lead anywhere.

I'm surprised this case has had so little attention up to now. We're all aware of Maya, Allison Bailey, Katie Alcock - how has this one flown under the radar?
