Hello! Look at the top two tweets! Might have to listen to today's episode

Link below. Listen from 41 minutes for tweets about free speech first, including one telling WH off for neglecting this issue. From 43 for their item on Maya's case. Very factual. Included a listener comment, again telling WH off for neglecting the story (Emma B denied this). Followed by an interview with Lisa Keogh, victim of the Abertay Uni witch hunt. Brave young woman, felt so sorry for her listening to her account. She doesn't feel she can go to her own graduation because of what has happened.

Final words in the programme given to Maya's former employer and a transwoman, completely missing the point of what Maya's case was about and imploring everyone to "be kind". What a surprise. WH late to the party, on the defensive and ultimately missing the fucking point.

I really miss Jenni and Jane. They were hobbled on what they were allowed to cover, but it just feels now that Emma and Anita are in full agreement with the dogma.

I wasn't impressed at the way EB lied about woman's hour covering the issues properly

ramonaquimby · 10/06/2021 14:59

I listened to this
I felt that the final words were like a giant 2 finger salute to the issue and kinda erased having had Lisa on to discuss her recent case.

The Paloma Faith section was actually more feminist. The guest was allowed to talk about uniquely female experiences (VAWG, maternity)

Bryonyshcmyony · 10/06/2021 15:07

EB LAUGHED when denying they hadn't covered the issues properly. She's awful

TedImgoingmad · 10/06/2021 15:07

Yes, I agree ramonaquimby, but now they can bullshit listeners and claim their coverage is not biased and allows both sides a hearing. No, just no. Cold hard facts versus emotive "be kind" blackmail is not giving both sides of the case. It is trying to tip the balance away from sense to sensibility.

I haven’t listened, but given that the result of Maya’s case was in favour of Maya, this sounds astonishingly off-key. Why are they unable to discuss the specific result of a court case in an unbiased way? This is surely an occasion to talk about the results. It sounds like instead, they gave the last word to people who used it to harangue women and tell them they might have won, but they mustn’t let it go to their heads.
