A Year Ago Today

Maya's statement reminded me that a year ago today, JK Rowling published her essay Terf Wars.

JKR's essay and the vitriolic, misogynistic reaction to it is what peaked me and many more women. It made me get off my arse and become actively involved and take action.

I feel quite emotional today because what a difference a year makes. The fight for women's rights continues, but Maya's victory today is perfect symmetry.

I feel the same which makes me greatly admire the women who were fighting this long before.

Yes, the tide seems to be turning which is wonderful - but lets not forget the people who were fighting this for a long time seemingly on their own and having their careers ruined in the process.
