Ive namechanged for this to avoid outing. There have been rape threats to Amanda Jones barrister and my fellow Legal Feminist collaborator legalfeminist.org.uk/2021/06/08/disagreeing-with-a-woman-threats-of-rape-and-violence/

How horrendous. Even though, as suggested in the comments, it isn't surprising or unusual for anyone who has been involved in these discussions, I can only imagine how jarring it is to receive this kind of message.

This is horrendous. I hope Amanda is ok.

I hope the recipients and those who have read the threat are OK.

What sort of intellectual or moral rigour do you have when you're so uncertain in your arguments that you resort to sexualised intimidation? How normalised is this that my first reaction was, "Of course there have been such threats. When will it be death threats or promises of serious harm"?

Along with "unless somebody says 'here is your address and I am coming to your house right now to kill you' we can't do anything."

I said, "what if they say 'here is your address and I am coming to kill you at some unspecified time?' Can you do something then?"

Coz I have had one of those.

And they said, nope, nothing we can do unless it's an immanent threat.

They wouldn't even record it.

OP there's a chance the proton mail can be traced back to the senders account according to this:

While clearly Stonewall are not responsible for the illegal conduct of their own supporters they bear some responsibility for creating the atmosphere in which this kind of behaviour thrives, through rhetoric like equating GC feminism to anti-Semitism.
