Sticker wars

Do you sticker? I'm nervous about doing so but the local skate park is begging to be added to the battle. I think some stickers would be a nice addition to the penis graffiti and turquoise hair crew. There's a lot of male entitlement about the place too and it's quite intimidating. Plus the local high schools are fully on board with the wokeness and serve look-aid at lunch. I know the tide is turning but every little helps right?

I never leave a public loo without sticking one or two of the old Fair Play for Women leaflets on the inside of the door. Sadly they don't make them any more but at least I bought a lot Grin. I feel that I achieve more by putting something up that alerts people to the issues in concise and coherent manner and so that they see the name of an organisation they can google to get more info (it seems to me it is more likely to achieve something that simply stickers that others who aren't aware of the issues will see and ignore/dismiss). When I run out of FPFW leaflets I intend to simply create something along the same lines myself and get them printed by the 1000 in the local print shop.

Are you a 7 year old child?

If not, why are you acting like one?

Stickers are fun. There are some great ones around. I like the 'Sex is binary, Bullshit is a spectrum'. 😂

Some neighborhoods near me have sticker wars with each side stickering over the other.

Last year before lockdown I was doing what MsFogi does - I was leaving loads of FWS leaflets on buses, trains, pubs etc. I'd highly recommend it as well. In clothing stores and charity shops, leave folded leaflets in pockets for a lucky purchaser to find. Smile

Whereas that articulate and reasoned comment is much more grown up?

In what way is posting political leaflets and stickers childish?

MsFogi · 08/06/2021 16:09

Oh and I've remembered - pre-covid I used to sticker trains and bus stops too Grin and basically anywhere else I could get away with it (my preference is always places where people will be standing around so may actually read the info and think - wtf?!?). I simply have them in my handbag at all times ready with the double sided sticky tape which I surreptitiously peel off before deftly banging a sticker on the relevant surface as I passed by. I must admit to getting a bit of a kick out of it! I missed it during lock down but normal service is now slowly resuming.

I’m 41 and I sticker. With my 10 year old. I’m enjoying replacing ones that have been removed this week. After a while I abandon a spot and do it elsewhere. We tie ribbons too.

The words "battle" and "wars" is indicative of childish thinking / behaviour.

These are very informative.

Oh, OK. There's me thinking it was just light-hearted use of metaphor. Good job you came along. So the stickers are OK then, just don't mention the war?

I hope you are taking notes, OP?

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 08/06/2021 16:31

When I sticker, I take full advantage of my middle-aged-woman invisibility. Look as boring as possible & you’ll be amazed at what you can do in plain sight & not be noticed Grin

Owen Jones is presently arguing the opposite point of view to you.

I find it best never to take notes from the ill-informed. I prefer to write my own Wink

I love it, Empress! Been a bit busy recently, but will send for some stickers asap. Any recommendations, anyone?

Stickers are for grown ups too. I've got loads. Wanna borrow some? ☺️

CervixSampler · 08/06/2021 16:55

Thank you so much for the links so far-I didn't know there were sites other than standing for women. I have ordered myself a Thought Criminal T-shirt as a birthday present to myself.
Maybe I can spend my pocket money on stickers from now on Grin

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 08/06/2021 17:11

I used to collect stickers when I was seven. Spent all my pocket money on sheets of stickers from the Works.

Apparently I haven't changed.

I sticker. I have set myself a goal that I cannot order a fancy new stickers until I sticker all the ones in my purse. I’m out with the pram lots and I get the bus to work so lots of opportunity. Pushing a buggy also makes you invisible

I imagine this poster will find it completely acceptable when LOJ says it, but childish when one of us does. Off you trot then, and we'll go back to our childish consciousness-raising feminism.
CervixSampler · 09/06/2021 13:29

My stickers are on the way and I'm looking forward with childish Hmm glee to sticking them up in various places. Stonewall's demise in progress is inspiring so now is a good time I think.

Is there any way to get hold of women won't wheesht stickers? I live in Fife where the police investigated the sticker on a lamppost.

Not that I go out much these days because of lockdown and previously shielding so still being nervous about Covid risks but I'm sure I can find a few places to stick a few.
