Stonewall mission and priorities

I've tried to access this on two devices and multiple browsers but it says I'm not authorized.

Is this for paid up members only?

Does anyone have an archive or screenshots please?

I want something that shows what they are campaigning for, in their own words. Most of the website seems to be available to members only.

Weird. Same on my computer.

Helleofabore · 07/06/2021 12:39

Maybe this will help. It is their new strategy document.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 07/06/2021 12:40

I can't either but their strategy document for 2021 to 2025 is there. One of their aims is to
Expand and improve our Diversity Champions and Global Diversity Champions programmes

So that's going well.

Baroness Nicholson is doing a webinar on lobbyists tomorrow, I imagine this will feature in the talks. You might need to email her office for the webinar link, I don't think it's shared online.

Thanks @PastMyBestBeforeDate

I've just skimmed and can't see any mention of removing single-sex exemptions. Perhaps as per Dentons, they've decided not to say this bit out loud.

Link in case anyone else wants to read.

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria that's great, thank you!

They don’t need to say removing single sex exemptions - arguing for self id and gender to trump biological sex has that effect.

JellySlice · 07/06/2021 13:26

They don't need to. They are doing their usual thing of presenting what they want as fact: not differentiating between (factual) sex and (make-believe) gender. But doing that, by default, makes everything mixed-sex - while retaining the illusion of single-sex. Besides, they wouldn't overtly state that they want to get rid of single-sex exemptions because they want services to be single-gender so that TW can access women's services, whereas retaining the single-sex exemptions will allow gay men to object to the presence of TM.

ThatsWhenTheCannibalismStarted · 07/06/2021 13:27

@DorotheaDiamond I was sure I'd seen a webpage that said it in plain English but that was before the rebrand and I'm kicking myself for not archiving.

I'm looking to have a difficult conversation about Stonewall and it will be easier if I don't have to explain the entirety of gender ideology and self-id first, is all!

That's their old one (ditched a year early)

Helleofabore · 07/06/2021 13:35

So it is itsallgoingtobefine

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/06/2021 13:36

It is interesting not compare their "Vision for Change" and their "Free to Be" documents though. Whatever we may think of their content, the Vision for Change is long and detailed and sober looking, and given up on a year early. Their new Free to Be policies look a bit fur coat and name knickers, it all looks very flashy but is very short and lacking in detail compared to their earlier strategy.

I would love to know why they ditched their earlier strategy and no doubt spent a lot doing a massive rebrand.

@Helleofabore

This is the new, year early one

www.stonewall.org.uk/stonewall-strategy-free-to-be

As you said @ItsAllGoingToBeFine very light on detail

Is this what you are looking for?

A review of the Equality Act 2010 to include ‘gender identity’ rather than ‘gender reassignment’ as a protected characteristic and to remove exemptions, such as access to single-sex spaces

Good!

To advocate for removing the exemptions is appalling, to write that in black and white is just plain stupid and will come back to bite them big time!

And as for 'gender identity' being a protected characteristic, I simply just don't understand how that would work in practice.
