What a fantastic and emotive advert showing the importance of grass roots football

I saw this advert the other day and found it really moving.

And it really really struck me how, when the team all assembled behind their friend, they were all boys.

It is not just important for girls to have same sex spaces, but boys too.

I just wonder why anyone would argue to remove that?

It’s a good advert.

Grassroots football (any sport) is fantastic. My DS is in a team with two girls, they are fantastic. But you can see that shortly they will be out grown by their male opponents.

Isn't that a girl in the green bib?

It is a good advert. Sport teaches us all sorts about life. If it wasn't outing, I'd share an article I wrote about that.

It’s a beautiful advert.

I really believe that we all need some same sex spaces, men and women, boys and girls. It is good to have mixed sex options too in some cases.

Healthy same sex spaces, sports and organisations can help build self esteem and confidence and improve mental health. The denial of the reality and significance of sex does a great deal of harm. Understanding those differences and separating what can’t be changed (biology) from what can be improved upon (culture) can improve mental health of individuals and society.

Grassroots sport matters.

In addition to all those other points, sport and other physical activities can help children feel happier in their bodies as they grow up through the difficult phases.

I do wonder how much the reduction of school sports has contributed to the rise in gender dysphoria among teenaged girls. (Obviously that's along with other problems such as violent pornography making womanhood an unwelcome prospect.)

I had a very uncomfortable conversation with a colleague recently where he said he could not understand why women should be allowed their own sports clubs or classes. He said there was once an argument that women could not do certain jobs, but if they are equal then they shouldn't get their own sports.

I did try to point a few things out to him but he ended up shouting and shaking his fist. I was doubly shocked because I always thought his opinions aligned with mine.....
