Dear All

See the attached pic of Carol Kirkwood this morning from BBC breakfast. Later they had made her out a big foam wind cover on her microphone. I think it was to cover her cleavage which is in no way shocking.

I think that was highly sexist to women.

Did anyone else notice?

Just windy on the roof?

LubaLuca · 03/06/2021 10:08

Yeah, there's no other reason for putting a wind cover on the mic of a presenter who's standing outside on a rooftop...

Chicchicchicchiclana · 03/06/2021 10:11

Don't indulge it!

MrsBunHat · 03/06/2021 10:32

No, she's known for her dressy outfits and often has more cleavage than that which I don't think anyone has tried to cover up!

Dozer · 03/06/2021 10:34

Eh?

deydododatdodontdeydo · 03/06/2021 10:37

Smash the patriarchy, one foam microphone wind cover at a time...
Bonkers.

3CCC · 03/06/2021 11:15

Don't be so ridiculous she was standing on a roof which are notorious for being windy Hmm

PurpleMustang · 03/06/2021 11:37

Right, ok of course

Justa47 · 03/06/2021 12:05

You were up there on the roof, so you should have asked the question then.

3CCC · 03/06/2021 12:21

It's on top of a building it might not be storm force 7 but it's bound to be a bit breezey.

Cwenthryth · 03/06/2021 12:21

I don’t see it OP. A wind cover on a mic in any outdoor setting is appropriate, and I’ve seen her wear lower cut tops before. I don’t think this is a modesty issue.

But the BBC complaints process is fairly responsive (when you’re not complaining about lack of impartiality on gender ideology) so why not submit a complaint and see what response you get? I complained recently about a BBC News report that repeatedly had prominent graffiti in the background that said “ACAB” (all cops are bastards) and I got a reasonably individual response. Posting on here for outrage isn’t massively productive, and most of us so far seem to disagree with you, but why not complain directly and let us know what the response is.

Justa47 · 03/06/2021 20:52

I am assuming it was a wind cover.
There was not wind nothings moving and she was fine with out it.

Well, in fairness, we do tell posters like OP, who complain about the dominance of a particular subject, to start their own thread about the pressing feminist issues of the day.

lazylinguist · 03/06/2021 21:36

Confused You've decided something was 'highly sexist to women' without a shred of evidence to support your theory about why they used it. It's a wind cover. She was on a roof. I expect they used it in case it was a bit windy. Talk about jumping to weird conclusions!

AnyFucker · 03/06/2021 21:38
