Just heard that. Still exploring but their articles aren't showing. Anyone have any clues?

Women, hated. They might remove our websites but still won't shut us up (waves).

Newly published "articles" are loading for me, and they are awful (not to mention potentially dangerous because of the information they expose!).

I do hope the real site admins are able to regain control, or at least take the site down temporarily for the safety of the team!

Melroses · 01/06/2021 23:54

Yes hacked. There has been some increasingly unpleasant stuff posted over the evening.

shesellsseacats · 01/06/2021 23:55

The hosting company should be able to take it down pretty quickly.

I wonder if Megan's actually seen it yet? I imagine it won't last long once she has.

shinytape · 02/06/2021 00:01

That's gross and scary.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 02/06/2021 00:08

It's horrendous.

NiceGerbil · 02/06/2021 02:59

Same old.

Pathetic.

shesellsseacats · 02/06/2021 07:59

It's been taken down, thankfully.

For those who didn't see, it had Megan's address and phone number on it, inviting people to harass her basically.

TedImgoingmad · 02/06/2021 08:02

Address where? She doesn't live in Canada anymore.

MidClrgs · 02/06/2021 09:14

I hope the police investigate. Publishing personal information and encouraging harm could be under some sort of terrorist law.

shesellsseacats · 02/06/2021 09:20

I didn't look tbh. I clocked it was an address and phone number, but I didn't read the details.

There was also an article "why peeing with a boner is worse than childbirth" or something like that, but I didn't bother reading that either.

Obviously these people are on the right side of history.

What a bunch of wee fannies.

Glad it's all been taken down and hope nobody is harmed by this.

shesellsseacats · 02/06/2021 10:29

Seriously Mumsnet?! We didn't get our nest of vipers reputation by having comments like that deleted!

Some people watching our every move are obviously offended by comments about how important penises are to the kind of people who hack a prominent women's website and put up articles about penises! Surprised MN is indulging them though.

(Casting no aspersions about what kind of people they are in this post - their behaviour shows, they are literally hackers who post articles about penises).

Zeev · 02/06/2021 10:49

Oh FFS. Is "penis" joining the list of unmentionable words?

Zeev · 02/06/2021 10:51

Or is the worry that we could hurt the poor hackers' feelings by mentioning that they keep posting things about penises?

I mean, what???

shesellsseacats · 02/06/2021 11:02

I forget exactly what the comment was but something along the lines of how they're obsessed with their penises. And if a person is hacking someone else's website and posting articles about penises, I'd say that's a pretty fair comment!

Given MN don't monitor our comments, they only act if someone's reported it, we must be being watched - and it plainly touched a nerve, I'd say!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 02/06/2021 11:31

Absolutely pathetic.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 02/06/2021 11:37

Agree

ninetynineAu · 02/06/2021 11:54

Anyone else hearing the theme song from Two & A Half Men ?

dyslek · 02/06/2021 12:09

Do you think it was teenage boys, sitting in their bedrooms, being cross with mummy, no friends, having wanked too much and desperatly trying to regain a sense of control over their empty lives?
Or do you think it was grown men, sitting in their bedrooms...

MondayYogurt · 02/06/2021 13:07

These hacks and attempts at hacks and ddos attacks etc do serve to underline the importance of keeping your own good cyber security practices if you don't want others to have your data.

aloris · 02/06/2021 15:25

Did anyone manage to screenshot any evidence of the doxxing for future reference?

aloris · 02/06/2021 15:26

(Obviously, if you did, please don't post the screenshots, just thinking it is good to have the evidence of the threatening behavior).

OldTurtleNewShell · 02/06/2021 16:22

@aloris

Did anyone manage to screenshot any evidence of the doxxing for future reference?
I didn't but I saw some screenshots on twitter from people who did (with the details blocked out). I believe that there was also some very violent porn on the website. Right side of history, my arse. Hmm
