Lesbian mumsnetters - suggestions for a LGBTQ+ quote on same-sex attraction needed!

Hi all - I need your help please!

My workplace is asking for members of the LGBTQ+ community (or those of us who are passionate about it) to provide a couple of sentences on why it is important for our company to celebrate Pride month and support the LGBTQ+ community. I would love to submit an anonymous quote on same-sex attraction, perhaps alluding to the acrimony heaped upon it worldwide (despite its long history) and the importance of celebrating it as a normal part of human society. I'm not gay myself, so was hoping to ask for inspiration here. I am very keen to use the phrase 'same-sex-attracted' if possible (emphasis on sex, not gender).

Any ideas would be gratefully received, thank you!

Something on the crux of it being the acceptance and positive perception in the world that a woman's body and sexuality can be something not for or useful to male people and be equally valued.

I'm still seething from the lesbians can 'learn to cope' thing from McKinnon on radio. Fuck off with that. Women get to enjoy sex and equality in sex too, they don't exist to provide pleasure and nurture to male bodies out of pure self sacrifice.

" In the interests of promoting equality and diversity, will you listen to lesbians, gay men and bisexuals who are excluded from the LGBT+ umbrella because our sexual orientation is based on sex, not “gender”?"

PRIDE KEY POINT
'Are you aware that up to half of all lesbians say they have been staying away from Pride for years because it is not a welcoming environment for them? Are you willing to meet representatives of lesbian groups to discuss this?'

OP I love this question!

How about something along the lines of...
I am many things, but one of the things I am is a lesbian - Clare Balding.
Pride is important to encourage visibility in the workplace. Same sex attracted women and men should be free to bring their whole selves to work.

It's subtle but it will probably be noticed

Lesbians say no to pride because our interests are not represented and we do not want to identify with the fetishists we see there.

Today’s Prides are “spitting in the faces of the brave men and women who marched for our rights at a time when Pride marches still had value, purpose and relevance.”
