POLICE Scotland faced anger and ridicule after a clampdown on stickers from a feminist group opposed to the relaxation of gender self-ID laws.

The national force was accused of a “chilling” attack on free speech after announcing it was probing the matter as a “hate” crime.

Fife Police urge people to report ‘hate crime’ stickers – then say they are not illegal

Police in Fife urged people to report stickers said to be related to a hate crime – before removing a tweet after it was found no laws had been broken.

Little wonder the police are confused.

They are supposed to use judgement, irrespective of what the trans groups say.

The police are clearly utterly dim.

MidsomerMurmurs · 24/05/2021 09:36

James Morton of the STA is also in record on Twitter encouraging people to report stickers to police, saying " we need the stats"

Trans rights activists wanting accurate statistics is a massive eye roll Hmm

Zinco · 24/05/2021 12:34

Yeah they can have the stats, but I'm going to have to insist that any stickers against self-ID actually get recorded as being pro self-ID, and vice versa.

Women: women won’t wheesht

Kirkcaldy police: aye ye fucking will!

So progressive 🙄

Rhannion · 24/05/2021 13:01

Twitter is full of brilliant stuff on this, particularly good is a CSI Kirkcauldy one. Ridicule is real and cheering. More sunlight on this and Marion’s situation the better.

We definitely won’t Wheest up here. This has given us more reason to carry on.
FemaleAndLearning · 24/05/2021 13:04

Maybe if we put some stickers around saying "gardening is fun 'get digging". They can be reported as hate crime too!

Changemusthappen · 24/05/2021 13:22

In case the police need some help, when they spot a sticker:

Mother of God, where are all these stickers coming from?

“If I see a sticker I only know one way and that’s full-throttle.”

“I’m interested in one thing and one thing only, and that’s stickers.”

Selkiesarereal · 24/05/2021 13:25

Bloody hell, between this and the threatening undertones against a woman with autistic twins, I despair at what my country is becoming.

Sophoclesthefox · 24/05/2021 15:30

@Queenoftheashes

Yeah I just want to reiterate that particular part
Pfffffftttt! 🤣

Am endlessly in awe of the Olympic levels of double think needed to say that there’s no clash between trans rights and women’s rights, and then interpret a sticker saying “women won’t wheesht” as being a transphobic hate crime. It’s almost impressive!

TheHandmadeTail · 24/05/2021 15:35

“I’m interested in one thing and one thing only, and that’s stickers.”

Grin With Ted’s impending budget cuts it could well be the case. At least he’d know what a fella is I suppose.

SpindleWhorl · 24/05/2021 15:43

@SoapboxFox

Maybe someone will report the police to themselves, for harassing women who don't think men should define what a woman is!
I've just had a vision of the Fife police sitting in a squad car eating Haribo.

[quote MiladyBerserko]Tibtom

Rhiannon Spear, poster girl of the SNP, revealed her colours this weekend.

To be fair, she mostly confirmed how dim she is.

Am I allowed to snigger at the name of the ward she stands for - Greater Pillock ward of Glasgow? Grin

CuriousaboutSamphire · 24/05/2021 15:45

Actually, following on from the drag artist thread maybe Greater Pollok is entirely apt as it stands!

Quite.

Queenoftheashes · 24/05/2021 19:33

Anyway I like political stickers. They give me something to read while waiting for the green man.

NiceGerbil · 24/05/2021 20:05

Will police Scotland act immediately on any reports of drawings of cocks in public places, whether ejaculating or otherwise?

Just out of interest.

OnWednesdaysWeWearMink · 24/05/2021 20:17

@Zinco

There was probably a thread on this at the time, but a few months back...

thetab.com/uk/edinburgh/2020/11/27/more-transphobic-stickers-have-been-found-on-edinburgh-uni-campus-68683

More transphobic stickers have been spotted on Edinburgh University Campus.

A fourth year Edinburgh student saw the stickers on two lampposts around uni, by 40 George Square and the other two just outside Brewlab on South College Street.

One sticker read “Seahorses ARE horses. Hotdogs ARE dogs. There is no debate. #WarOnWomen.”

This is the best laugh I’ve had in ages. Where can I get me some seahorse stickers?
Zinco · 26/05/2021 01:37

Don't know where those stickers are available, but there must be plenty of companies that would print you something equivalent very cheap. Maybe the company reports you to "Prevent" for asking for them, but it's all good fun.

I know that "adult human female" stickers are sold by Posie Parker.

Another story about a terrible stickering incident:

www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh-news/edinburgh-shop-owner-disgusted-after-20513703

"Disgusted with what has happened, he told Edinburgh Live: "We had a lot of trans people coming into the shop yesterday and people were visibly upset by it and even crying. It was quite emotional."

[End quote]

Apparently he was producing his own pro-trans stickers, but things got out of hand, and it just turned into open sticker warfare.

This has devastating consequences, obviouslypeople really upsetand you can only imagine the risk now of a sticker "arms race" and things just completely spiralling out of control.

Rhannion · 26/05/2021 02:36

Someone has been busy in Edinburgh...💜🤍💚

Gingerkittykat · 26/05/2021 03:04

This is the same police who failed to investigate a serious homophobic hate crime against my DD last year when she was abused, threatened, and told all gays should die by a drunk 50 year old man,

They knew the bar had CCTV, the staff in the pub told DD they had bodycam footage but they never bothered going and looking at it. I had the crime followed up by an outside agency who pushed them for a response, otherwise we never would have found out how little effort they made.

Defaultname · 26/05/2021 10:20

@Zinco

Is this like a deliberate troll campaign against the police?

What's the most innocent thing you can say that they will still overreact to?

"If I identify as pregnant, can I pee in your helmet?" should be popular.

The shop-owner is quoted as saying "I feel like people should be sticking up for each other" so you could be right!
Waitwhat23 · 26/05/2021 10:25

There's a current push by TRA's to claim that there's razor blades hidden behind stickers. No evidence (but when does that stop them?)
