Scottish woman told would be charged for homophobic and transphobic tweets

twitter.com/millar_marion/status/1396039074239164423?s=19

On Wednesday April the 28th 2021 I received a call from a PC Laura Daley from police scotland requesting i attend an interview for homophobic and transphobic tweets under the milacious communications act.

I was asked to attend that coming Friday, she told me I had to attend East Kilbride police station so I could be then transported to Cathcart police station in a police car because I would have to go to a police station where there is holding cells, I would be then processed, questioned and then most likely charged.

I told her I would not be attending any interview on that day especially with it being a bank holiday weekend because my autistic twins needed me and I was scared I would be held all weekend.

To this she told me she would attend my house with social workers for my boys.

I contacted a solicitor straight away and he was unable to get PC Daley so for the first bank holiday in May I sent my disabled twins away for fear of this officer carrying out this threat.

This absolute nonsense has been hanging over my head for a month, I can barely sleep
or eat and I still don't know what the offending tweet is, my new interview has been scheduled for Thursday the 27th May, I will find out what I am supposed to have said at that point and if I will be indeed charged, again at another bank holiday, I just want to say, anyone who knows me, knows I am not homophobic or transphobic, I am a hard working mummy who would fight to the end for the safety and dignity of women and girls and for my vulnerable twinnies.

If we sit back and do nothing we will regret it for ever. For this reason I will never
Wheesht.

Same!!!! I'm up for going to Scotland and physically giving Marion the money.

Staffy1 · 05/06/2021 20:02

Wow. I don't think the UK has the right to criticise North Korea or countries of the same ilk when this kind of thing happens here.

Cailleach1 · 05/06/2021 20:02

Women need to set up our own funding platforms. Private businesses like Go Fund Me appear to be happy to take part in the suppression of women by all these males, and groupies.

A woman has been charged over suffragette ribbons! It is like nothing has changed in 100 years. Go Fund Me by treating women's causes with contempt are taking part in this repression. Plus ca change.

Thanks everyone, it appears I did have an account! No idea when I set that up.

Anyway, sorted and doubled my donation.

FWS have asked that PayPal donations be paused as something dodgy is happening:

FFS

If I have to drive 430 miles to hand over money in person, I will.

GreenUp · 05/06/2021 20:13

Did anyone see the original crowdfunding page? I wanted to read it but the link just goes to a Page not Found page.

If you did read it - why does Marion only need £10,000 - I thought these cases need a lot more money to hire solicitors and QCs. Other people's funds were at least £100,000. I don't want her to lose for not having the best legal team available.

nauticant · 05/06/2021 20:13

I posted this at the start of the thread:

A lot has changed since they could give women criminal records for, effectively, nothing without anyone noticing. There was Kate Scottow's successful appeal, there are many wanting to fight against what they see as oppressive use of power, and there's the disproportionate new Hate Speech laws in Scotland.

With the much greater amount of awareness now and many more willing to pitch in, I think this time round the Police will be shocked at the amount of resistance they get in attempting to squash one of the little people (little women).

The more trans activists flex their muscles over this, go after one single woman who has stood up to them, damage Marion's cause with underhand, and possibly illegal, use of computer systems, and crow on social media about the successful their use of power, the more this will expose what they're doing to scrutiny. If they keep this up they'll succeed in tipping this over into being a massive story.

Lordy, the Twitterati are moaning now that they can’t see how much is being donated via PayPal.

Hahahahaha to the power of n+1.

FannyCann · 05/06/2021 20:20

It seems someone has engaged in fraud by duplicating the relevant twitter account.

Probably just some random who saw an opportunity to have a share of the action.

Ribbons aren't littering and women do have vaginas, Nick.

I will be double digging.
I will be decorating .
I will be wearing green and white and purple every day.

Nodal · 05/06/2021 20:22

But the original pay Pal that Marion linked to on her twitter is the right one?

ScreamingMeMe · 05/06/2021 20:26
ArabellaScott · 05/06/2021 20:27

It looks like someone duplicated her Twitter account.

As far as I can tell, the paypal email should be to marion. If it's to a 'margaret' then I guess it's gone to teh wrong person.

This trial will be a Sheriff court trial, almost certainly with no jury. Solicitors in Scotland routinely appear in the criminal Sheriff court for jury and non- jury trials.

Even with an advocate, it won't run to £10,000 but there may not necessarily be an advocate instructed.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 05/06/2021 20:29

Can we just send a cheque or PO to her lawyers? Those whippersnappers won’t even know what these are...

ArabellaScott · 05/06/2021 20:30

Forwomen.scot might be the best people to ask, toffee.

KimikosNightmare · 05/06/2021 20:31

@PronounssheRa

I'm not sure what your point is. Go fund me quite clearly does not allow funding of almost all criminal cases

Untrue

Count Dankula found guilty of being "grossly offensive" under section 127 of the Offensive Communications Act 2003, but allowed to use go fund me for an appeal..

Marion also questioned under Communications Act 2003, not allowed to fund raise.

One was allowed to fund raise the other not. What's the different (rhetorical question)

Presumably no one reported it. His funding was for an an appeal- might be treated differently.
BoreOfWhabylon · 05/06/2021 20:32

Someone set up a duplicate of Marion's Twitter but it's now been reported and deleted

No you can't send a cheque to her solicitors. They can't accept it - it would be a huge breach of anti- money laundering regulations to do so.
Signalbox · 05/06/2021 20:34

Marion is saying that she’s reached her target.

I'm so raging about this. Donated via GoFundMe, took the dog for a walk, and came back to this. Maybe Allison Bailey can advise her if she needs more money. I swear I'll never use GoFundMe again.

Nodal · 05/06/2021 20:43

Where is all the TRA frothing about that fact that's she's pretty much instantly raised the 10k she needs initially on her PayPal, even with the attempted fraud 😁 I'm not seeing any of it on twitter?
