Every media outlet chose to print a photo though. I bet that a headline naming a male pattern crime as carried out by a female, and attaching a photo of a male-bodied person generates maximum click bait.
This horrible gaslighting situation is obviously bad for women but doesn't really do trans people any favours either. So many crimes committed by apparent transwomen* I wouldn't have bothered to read about had they been reported accurately. "Male is violent" is so depressingly common i don't have time to read about them all.
*I say apparent because I don't know whether or not the people I read about have GRCs, or a deeply held belief that they are the opposite sex. Some may even have just found their trans identity in time for being prosecuted. Are they less trans? I don't know. If you follow Stonewall's trans umbrella then I'm trans too, so I'm none the wiser.
