Fairplayforwomen have published documents that reveal why prison bosses decided to put dangerous transgender sex offenders into a women's prison (Downview) instead of a men's.
Not sure how to link the document from twitter but looking at the information and the tweets, this is what it says:
The Service had a choice between a unit in a men's prison and a women's but their impact assessment rejected the safer option on the prisoners need for an "association with women" and access to "female services"?
Allowing male sex offenders to mix with vulnerable women in prison was intended to "foster good relations"
Trans 'lesbians' were allowed to have 'relationships' with other prisoners and although this relationship may have come under 'extra scrutiny' the prison service had to ensure there was no risk of bias or unfavourable treatment so this had to be assessed 'holistically'.
The MOJ's transgender policy including the housing of high risk male born prisoners in a female 'estate' is now subject to a Judicial Review although I don't know much more!
