As I was obsessed with the show I’ve been wondering when this would resurface.

For anyone who doesn’t know bender fails to beat the male robots at the robot olympics. So he has a sex change to become a fembot and easily beats all of the robots that were originally built female.

I can’t wait until they get to the episode where bender dresses up as a fairy and goes by the name “gender bender” on the wrestling circuit.

@nauticant ahh I’m not on Twitter so I’ve only just seen it in a Facebook group I’m part of.

I’m assuming Matt Groennings life hasn’t dropped to ruins as I’m sure I’d have heard about that. What do they think they’re going to do about 20 year old cartoons that are accurate AF anyway.

Watched a Simpsons episode on channel 4 a few weeks back (it was a repeat) which would get the same complaints. I'll find a plot description.

Homer becomes a minister to do gay weddings, one of Marge's sisters is going to marry a woman called Veronica.
Only it turns out Veronica was actually a chap who was pretending to be a woman in order to win the women's pro golf championship.

I was surprised it took south parks board girls episode to upset the TRAs tbh as they did one where cartman self IDs as a girl to use the girls bathroom (although not for predatory purposes he does just want to take a shit) and gets his own bathroom so Wendy does the same thing.

Oh and the whole mr garrison actually having SRS story line aswell and then turning back into a man.

What are they going to do when they spot Some Like or Hot?

It was ages ago this episode was made wasn't it? Life imitating art indeed....

I like irreverent comedy.
Futurama poked fun at all kinds of causes and beliefs (including feminism!) Very funny show, and very clever at times.

I think it must be a very miserable existence for those who cannot see the funny side in their own causes and beliefs. Sometimes comedy might cross the line (and where that line is varies for us all) but I much prefer it to being po faced and puritanical about every damn thing.

It is transphobic though.

I mean, bender is forced to undergo surgery to compete as a fembot! This of course is very problematic, as no modifications are required to turn a male robot into a female robot. In fact they already ARE a fembot and always have been...

We have a similar game here! It’s not just the old shows you can play that with - some foreign programmes are a gold mine!

So it’s not enough to be offended but you have to have everyone else offended too and of someone isn’t offended you need to scream at them until they agree with you like a five year old with anger management and control issues.

Im surprised its taken anyone this long to realise Futerama comes under the banner of everything on earth that was ever transphobic.
I can only guess they are working backwards. But its set in the future so who tf knows.

I adore Futurama and loved the gender Bender episode, as has been said Futurama poked fun at everything and everyone, including in the crossover episode with the Simpsons. The only episode that made me sad was the one where Fry's dog waits his whole life for him to return 😢.
As an aside, what are people supposed/allowed to find funny these days? Parody has always been a source of humour as far as I am aware. What do people do for a laugh now?
