Help me take action

This seems like a good forum to ask for advice - I want to take action to advance feminism. I want to go beyond signing petitions, arguing with manufacturers about pointlessly pinkified products and having conversations with people to influence views. I want to do something more radical.

I can’t find a group to join - the Fawcett society is the closest, but the CEO’s statement that women need to be more empathetic makes me despair. I want to see more women in positions of power, male violence tackled and generally seen as abhorrent, stereotypes smashed and girls encouraged, protected and promoted. I just don’t know where to start.

This is probably a very naive post but if anyone can advise me on how to turn my anger and passion into actual change, it would be great.

Do you have a ReSisters group? I think grassroots are the way to go as so many of the established groups like Fawcett, as you say, have been captured.

I hear the National Organisation for Women (NOW) has also been captured.

Write to your MP. Write to newspapers. Answer govt consultations.

I feel you OP, it seems there's so much wrong it's impossible to know where to - not start, because by engaging and complaining we've already started - but where best to direct time, attention, money and resources.

Funding legal cases is a good one too.

Thank you everyone for answering, I appreciate it. Writing to MPs (pretty useless in the case of my local one but I continue on the theory of constant dripping wearing away rock), consultations and contributing to legal challenges are things I do now. Thank you -@OhHolyJesus for the examples of groups, I will do some googling!

Are you in the South West at all? Someone here had posted about a group in that area.

No I’m north London. Looking for local groups at the moment.

I'm also looking to take more action. I already have open correspondence with my MP, CQC, Scottish Charities commission, DC's school.

DWP shut down my complaint by saying they have nothing more to say on the matter.
