A friend of mine was harassed by a police officer right back in the 80s after he came to the house to investigate a crime. No mobile phones then but he kept dropping round claiming he was checking she was OK, though his motivation was all too obvious. It really traumatised her but she was scared to report him.
So it's nothing new. I feel the police should take this sort of thing very seriously and punish it severely. It's abuse of power and puts women off reporting crime.
