West Yorks Mayor candidates

Tomorrow's election has kind of crept up on me and I haven't researched the candidates. If anyone's done this, are any candidates pro-women's rights, including re single sex spaces? Would like a centre-left candidate but at the moment WR are more important to me than that.

If I vote it will be Green
I know they aren’t the most GC party around (understatement) but the rest are awful in various ways. At least he has a female deputy.
The only other woman is Tracey Brabin and I won’t vote for either her or Labour generally.

I am going to go with Green ( I know, I know). I watched a couple of hustings and it's a bit superficial of me but Tracey Brabin is no Nicola Sturgeon. She umms and ahhs and grins and I'm just not convinced she's up to it never mind she will follow whatever wokitude is the party line.

I have met Andrew Cooper a couple of times, didn't ask him any GC questions (i'm building up to that) but he seems sensible and focussed on GREEN issues rather than identity politics. Appears to work well with the other women councillors in his ward.

I want Greens to do well for a strong voice against expansion of Leeds Bradford airport. Labour locally are all over the place on climate change.

I'm against HS2 as well as the LBA expansion but I don't think they'd reverse HS2 now?

Apparently she’s against the Holbeck ‘managed zone’ but she unsurprisingly hasn’t responded to my email asking her position on women’s single sex spaces, aka the #alexsobelquestion

I didn't watch the whole Sustrans hustings so not sure if that got asked but you may have more stamina than me - looks like Labour and Tory just didn't bother turning up for this one?

The other one I skimmed was:

I can't see how Labour could lose so for me it's about the amount of support the Greens get and showing some, hopefully many of us want pro-environment policies.

I couldn't vote Green if it was Sian Berry as candidate tho'. I'm not that dedicated!

I might do the same (probably without the penis drawing though!)

I've never spoiled my ballot before and it goes against the grain but none of them represent me.

I emailed them all.

Lib dem replied equating lesbians with males.

English Dems replied, totally in terf territory and getting my vote.

Yorkshire said they would get back to me but didn't and the rest totally ignored my repeated emails, tweets and Facebook messages.

What about the Yorkshire Party? Isn't their candidate a doctor? you would think a doctor would know what women are.

I think if you're going to spoil your vote a drawing a penis is going to be more fun for you. I think you could make it a political penis.

Also don't forget to take your own penis, I mean pencil. The Today programme says we're all supposed to take our own as anti- Covid measure.

Oh, having seen GCITC's post it doesn't sound like the YP guy is worth bothering with either.

Brabin has a trans or nonbinary family member if I remember correctly.
