“This new Finnish guidance prioritizes psychological therapy over treatment with hormones or surgery and suggests different care plans for early-onset vs late-onset childhood gender dysphoria. And Sweden has just published a new guideline which reflects a significant change in direction for the diagnosis of gender dysphoria in minors, now emphasizing the requirement for a thorough mental health evaluation. Recommendations on treatments with puberty blocker and cross-sex hormones are due later this year.“

Hopefully the tide is turning it's either that or they have got a whiff of the scandal brewing which will be followed by legal actions.

This stuff is so obvious, only one resolution is possible. Reality always wins. The only question is when, which depends on how grimly people want to hang on to gender stereotypes.

Based on past performance, the answer is, unfortunately, very grimly.

I only read the comments. A couple of ideologues weighed in but the rest were very encouraging indeed, not least because of how thoughtful and articulate they were. Almost all very supportive of resisting medicalisation and expressing concern about the rush to affirm.

Very good article - a version of it was previously published here:

www.webmd.com/children/news/20210427/transition-therapy-for-transgender-teens-drives-divide

And discussed here:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4233802-Green-shoots-things-looking-up-a-bit

WebMD and this are related sites? This is aimed more at professionals?

The Swedish guidelines on puberty blockers and cross sex hormones has come out on 1/4/21 and they are now banned. See photo

This is encouraging. Very very encouraging. Let's hope the Cass review and Keira Bell appeal push our guidance firmly in the same direction.
