Leaking periods

I've been very relieved by all the talk of the difficulties of menstruation as I've always found managing menstruation pretty impossible. I'm in my 40s so I've had plenty of experience. I have new sheets and a new mattress and I've just leaked all over them. How is it when I go to other people's houses and hotels etc that sheets and mattresses aren't stained like mine are? What am I doing wrong?

Have you considered a Mirena?

CousinKrispy · 26/04/2021 22:24

I had a Mirena for a while. Oddly, I still had very painful cramps, but far less bleeding. I asked to have it removed (got a bit of tut-tutting over that) because of the mood issues it was likely causing, but my periods have been a little lighter since then. It's not the solution for everyone of course.

Peri menopause was the worst for flooding in the night. I had to use super plus plus tampons and a massive pad, and have a towel under the sheets for just in case. I remember having to order the tampons online, as they didn’t sell them in the chemist/pharm.

I mentioned it to my doctor, but got no help.
