Standing for election? I think she might have something to say and I think it's good when people put themselves up for election in a democracy.

Mn753 · 23/04/2021 18:16

Sure. We always need more women in politics.

I don't care who it is...if the person is a celebrity I DON'T WANT THEM RUNNING FOR OFFICE in my country.

America has seen too many celebrities take over our public life - civic duty as a public servant should be for the competent and humble...pretty sure that's a rare thing in most celebrities. We founded this country in opposition to the immorality of classism and I think Celebrityhood is not dissimilar to European royalty (ostentatious, wasteful, ridiculous, absorbing, etc.).

We just had the Orange man...cough, cough.

There is a very boring trans woman who ran for minor office in some small state...can't remember her name cause she's not in the national news much. She talked a lot about traffic and infrastructure. I would have voted for her because she seemed quite knowledgeable and, frankly, her dullness seemed an attribute-I have heard her constituents say she works hard and had fixed their problematic traffic system.

I don't think Jenner is running because she offers a capable, public servant role. I think Jenner is running because Jenner likes attention.

Excellent at flying miniature planes though. And golf.

Gregorsgirl · 23/04/2021 18:36

Does anyone think that these people (Jenner, Trump,Bush) who get into power actually do anything? Surely they just realise that they are figureheads and have no real power Confused

EndoplasmicReticulum · 23/04/2021 18:39

Well the USA is yet to have a woman president so there's an opportunity there for somebody.

What isn’t needed is another Trump supporting, MAGA spouting red neck republican......oh dear.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/04/2021 19:55

I don't really follow American politics - can anyone explain to me why some trans people are so against Jenner running?

ChewtonRoad · 23/04/2021 20:00

But not driving Grin Buckle up, buckaroo!

I think this is for governor of California, but I believe they've also all been men so far. I suppose they've had some celebrities before - if actors and body builders why not a decathlete sleb? Same old, same old.
PronounssheRa · 23/04/2021 20:30

Same old, same old

Are you saying white wealthy privileged republican running for governor isn't progess for underrepresented minorities. Shocked I tell ya, shocked. 🤣

Jenner is a republican who has come out against gay marriage and who is a Trump supporter. Jenner may be under the umbrella but Jenner is generally not a friend to the LGBTQ+ (do forgive me if I forget a letter, it is hard to keep up).
HermitsLife · 23/04/2021 20:39

This is all about the attention of course.

Poor America, its totally fucked

Roomba · 23/04/2021 20:46

She'll be running for VP next with Mr Garrison. Now that's female empowerment!

ThorFull · 23/04/2021 20:47

Jenner has come out against gay marriage?

I just can’t get my head around this person.

Zeev · 23/04/2021 20:50

Jenner said, on 'Ellen' or some other talk show, "I kind of like tradition and it's always been a man and a woman". Jenner had already transitioned by then.

I kid you not!

I expect Jenner has later realigned Jenner's views but I haven't really kept up with the Kardashians so to speak.

titchy · 23/04/2021 20:59

Yeah but Jenner conveniently de-transitions when they want to play golf Hmm Says it all really.

Annasgirl · 23/04/2021 21:02

To my knowledge Jenner has never transitioned. Just to keep it factual.

AdHominemNonSequitur · 23/04/2021 21:03

We have our very own Caitlin in the UK. Even has political aspirations and sporting aptitude.

Jenner did claim Jenner had "gender confirmation surgery" in 2017.
