I was just about to put the following onto the LGBA charity thread and it got filled up! So I'll put it here Smile

Just had my heart lifted, saw a facebook friend of mine had commented on some bloke's page 'marly talks' (apologies MN if this some sort of targeting but it is a public page anyone can see)

Anyway, there was a link to the petition currently going about how LGBA is an evil hate group and shouldn't have charity status etc etc.

The pushback in the comments were so good to see! The number of people that have signed it less so, but I would have expected a lot of "yeah fucking terfs the lot of them" type comments, and happy to be proven otherwise Smile

Could it be, people have had enough of this smearing same sex attracted people as transphobes?

The transphobic terf slur has been overplayed. People aren’t stupid. The thing about LGB, same sex attracted people is that they have a lot of support, and are no threat to any groups individual rights. They do not make demands to change our language (o out ourselves), change what we speak about (in reference to ourselves) or be ‘centered’ in every bloody space. They just want to be treated like everyone else. As they should be.

Seems massively inappropriate. Someone's asked whether it's in a personal capacity or its NCVO's view. I might be making assumptions, but the comments and likes seem like a load of heterosexuals persecuting LGB people. I don't think they really understand what's going on. Not a good look....

I think the LGBA gaining charitable status is something to be applauded, those who come on to these threads to antagonise or attention seek are shining an unflattering light on themselves, not the LGBA.

The lack of credible evidence to back up claims made is helpful in its own way...

Shock I follow his page on fb! Horribly soppy and sentimental of me, but I was really rooting for his career to take off because his posts amused me so much during the lockdowns.

I suppose it shouldn't surprise me- lefty Millennial bloke finds it hard to empathise with lesbians. More news at 11.

its really quite mad that people are so up in arms about a LGB organisation. Noone seems to be so angry about trans only spaces

I've complained to the NCVO about that twitter thread by their interim CEO. You can do so here if you feel so inclined. It's outrageous.
