Sad today - spoilt ballot

Hi,
Lurker here but an avid reader of these great threads.
I got my postal vote for the local elections today.
For the 1st time since I was eligible to vote (1992) I've spoilt my ballot :(
#labour losing women
#biology is not bigotry
They won't care but someone might read my ballot (and that of my 75 year old mother!) and might just start to listen and debate instead of shouting abuse and calling names.
A forlorn hope, perhaps.
I've voted for most parties over the years in various elections (except tory) but I'd say I'm usually a Labour voter, but felt I had no choice as a voter this time.
Anyone feel the same?
Its shit.

I spoilt my ballot for the last General Election, and will probably do the same for the locals. I don't feel I have any other choice.

Yes OP, I think I will be spoiling mine for the first time in many years. It doesn't feel at all empowering or like a protest. It just feels miserable.

Erkrie · 19/04/2021 14:25

No. I couldn't spoil my ballot. It just doesn't feel right.

Seventrees · 19/04/2021 14:26

Yes, I really can't bring myself to vote for any of the parties, and will probably not vote. And I really believe in using your vote. I'm happy to compromise, but voting for a party you absolutely loathe is a different thing.

It does feel miserable 😞

It’s the first time I’ve felt reluctance or a dilemma about my vote really, but I couldn’t spoil my vote. I can understand your sadness, it feels a grave decision from a place of no choice.

ArabellaScott · 19/04/2021 14:37

I can fully understand, OP. I'm sorry. Flowers

Font forget to spoil your ballot correctly!

I do understand - I will be speaking in detail with anyone who knocks on my door asking for my vote though.

EightiesRobot · 19/04/2021 18:28

I can't vote. I've ALWAYS voted but I can't find anyone to vote for this election. I really don't want to spoil my ballot but it is looking like the only option.
