Thought it might be helpful to have a news and updates chat. It could be useful to help to keep up-to-date with events and to signpost to sources of information and places to dig.

We all have busy lives so I was thinking more of a news headlines service than in-depth chat so that the issues can be discussed in the relevant chat. Avoiding the TAAT issue of course Hmm

I'm only just catching up on emails from the weekend and have seen that Anne Sinnott has a date for her permissions hearing on May 6th. This hearing will decide whether or not AEA can proceed to Judicial Review of EHRC and will also rule on our request for a costs cap (to protect AEA) should the case go forward.

Digging is required if anyone has a spade or two.

Thanks for this thread.

I’ve been waiting for speakers at the next Reform of GRA Consultation meeting on 21st to be confirmed.

They have now been confirmed:

Thanks for the heads up on that one. Cracking speakers. It should be an interesting session.

Yep. Trans Widows Voices will also be there by means of written Q&As (to protect their identities).

If you have time and inclination, the transcript from the previous session may be of interest. I’ll not pass further comment.

Great idea for a thread.

Here is some excellent thread from Louise Moody:

"1. Merry Afternoon Tweeps!

I AM NOW LITIGATION FREE. That is, I AM NO LONGER BEING SUED.

Lawyer approved tweets underneath. Keep reading to discover what's happened to YOUR Crowdfunded cash! "

That’s a wonderful update too. So pleased to read about what has happened to the unrequired donations.

Fantastic update. And a good resource for worthy feminist causes.

A little win to celebrate

www.thejournal.ie/jk-rowling-bai-complaint-5409272-Apr2021/?utm_source=twitter_short

Complaint over panellist on Today FM's Last Word calling JK Rowling 'transphobic' upheld by BAI (Broadcast Authority of Ireland).

Just imagine if that happened for every other organisation that broadcast or printed the slur.

And this one has upset Jo M. What with having additional safeguards and reviews by multi-disciplinary professionals and everything.
