Misinformed piece by Irish Ombudsman for Children

This piece by Niall Muldoon, a child psychologist (!!), is completely misinformed. No reference to Keira Bell Court case, no reference to 80% of children growing out of gender dysphoria. I feel paralysed with rage over this www.independent.ie/opinion/comment/young-trans-people-have-a-right-to-be-seen-heard-and-supported-40299294.html

Been meaning to write to my TD but it's hard to know what to focus on. Women's sports might have more traction given I'm in rural Cork? But the medicalisation of young children is a horror show. And the threat to women's spaces - especially lesbians. Perhaps just focus on the gender self ID legislation? Keep it simple and Dáil related.

It’s paving the way for the reduction in age for self ID. There’s currently a report being drafted (if not already finished), run by both the department of justice and the department for children, which is looking at the implications for the reduction in age of self id.

I wonder if it will consider that it would mean that parents who chose single school will be admitting boys/girls under this proposal, that it will be against the law (discrimination on the Gender ground) to refuse their admittance, that objecting to mixed sex overnight accommodation will also be against the law, that it won’t be a small number because it has increased in the last number of years in Ireland. That their child will be able to apply to become the opposite sex without their parents knowledge. That organisations will not be able to tell parents sending their child to the Gaeltacht might be sharing dormitories with a member of the opposite sex.

We need to wake Irish parents up.

I'm apoplectic with rage just reading the intro.....
Thanks for posting OP.... i don't subscribe to any Irish media anymore over all this, so I can't really whole article. It feels like the entire establishment has been captured Angry

Bumping this post in case anyone on the Irish schools thread missed this article from our a Ombudsman for Children.

Can't remember my password for the Indo but I've read the first couple of lines ans just coming on to be annoyed about the standing up against gender critical stances line. We should all be gender critical, completely aside from anything to do with trans. Nobody should be just be blindly accepting of roles, fashions, choices, treatment based on sex.

www.sexualwellbeing.ie/for-parents/busy-bodies-english-language.pdf

“The main job of testosterone is to make your body male”

This is what our children are being taught at school. Please make some noise.

I've read the rest of it now. I wonder what services are in place for children whose emerging sexuality might be something they are struggling with? Or what services are in place for girls who are struggling with their body's development?
