"Forced consent"

If someone used this phrase, how would you interpret it?

Forced consent is not consent by definition. Consent must be freely given.

Of course there are a lot of different definitions of what constitutes force / means consent is not freely given.

This is why conversations about prostitution have such opposing views.

Some people will see eg sex in exchange for food when food is hard to get, forced. Some will see it as a simple trade. Like doing some cleaning or other jobs in exchange for the food.

But yes on the face of it forced consent as a concept is nonsense.

Forced consent = coercive control.

I actually had a support worker use this term recently to describe sexually abusive behaviour within a relationship. So when men pressure you into sex and you give in for a quiet life, your consent has been coerced

If you do not consent to the use of force in the first instance then there can be no such thing as 'forced consent'
