For anyone not watching as much as I do, you may have missed this weeks eye opening episode. There has been a storyline involving a trans man who is the daughter of the chief medical doctor. This person is a nurse. Recently they were stabbed by a tw who they previously knew when transitioning. They were operated on , the mastectomy scars were noticed but no one said that the treatment plan should be for a female sexed body ( one opportunity missed) . The same persons grandmother who happened to be in the hospital seemed to have a more realistic idea about the ‘identifying as’ business. However she was severely told by her daughter (( chief Doctor) that her grandchild IS A MAN. Another missed opportunity here... she could have said that to get on with her own daughter she is prepared to call her by a male name but that of course she is not a man. Talk about misinformation given on a popular program ( look mum, even a doctor says you can change sex) thoroughly annoyed by this even though I know it is fiction. Let alone the overuse of this topic....the other narrative is the poor transwoman making demands with menaces.

Would it be too much to hope for that in the next episode this patient becomes very ill because the parameters being used for any tests are those set for the male body, and then only recovers once the biological reality of the female body is recognised and treatment modified to that into account?

I'm am tired of the gaslighting by drama on the science of this topic.

The other thing was that the grandmother who is portrayed as being a devout Christian as a condition of her lending the transman a very large sum of money wanted her to attend a meeting at her church about detransitioning. I imagine the point is that only intolerant bigots support the idea of detransition. I don't know about the United Kingdom, but I know in the United States many conservative Christian types are actually quite pro-transgender because it means not having a gay child.

Well, at least we've found where the epidemic of conversion therapy is taking place, in BBC dramas pushing gender identity ideology.

I was only half being flippant. From when conversion therapy came onto my radar (2018) I've been looking around for evidence of trans people undergoing conversion therapy (in a sense other than undergoing watchful waiting rather than affirmation-only therapy) and it's very thin on the ground.

To be fair, mainstream dramas have been promoting an unrealistic representation of many topics for some time. How disproportionately often do we see people make a recovery from addiction or dramatic illness within an infeasibly short timescale?

It's well known that most people don't have any understanding of how rare it is to survive an out of hospital cardiac arrest for some age groups.

MSM - both news and drama - have a very strong influence on misperceptions that are so marked that they poison the civic discussions that should happen on a number of topics.

So either they cannot see the problem in presenting inaccurate facts in a programme that regularly has helpline contacts at the end, or they know it is wrong but just don’t care. And that affirmation and the sacrifice this week of the mothers career on the altar of the new religion is the best way of dealing with the issue. Gggrrr

Apparently, Juno Dawson is playing Vicky, a transwoman friend of the transman character Louis.

With the fact that the grandmother had BRCA1 and now the mother has been confirmed to have it, it wouldn’t surprise me if they made the fact that Louie had had a double mastectomy as part of transition into a mega bonus.

Ah I thought Vicky looked familiar . And yes of course the double msectomy will be very convenient .
