Thought this might be of interest

Just bumping this as the consultation ends on Friday.

IloveJKRowling · 28/04/2021 09:09

I went back to do this consultation again simply to say that their policy of allowing mixed sex competition and rides means that I will not join or participate in any of their falsely named 'women only' rides, and I will actively discourage my daughters from taking up competitive cycling or joining.

Which is an awful shame, but I think it would be enormously damaging to encourage them to spend years training and then get beaten by a biological male.

I'll just be finding my own women friends to cycle with and my girls can continue to enjoy recreational cycling.

Hopefully telling them I'm self-excluding from (and not paying for) their services because of their dedication to mixed sex and gender over sex means they can't say 'this never happens' and 'there's no impact on women and girls'.

MrsJamin · 28/04/2021 19:31

@IloveJKRowling that's such a shame. I really enjoy cycling and would probably think about breeze rides if I didn't already have someone I go for rides with. But now I definitely wouldn't bother because they obviously don't care that it is single sex. Has anyone suggested to the sponsor of these rides, HSBC, that they shouldn't be supporting British cycling because of the lie that they say it is for females only?

PennineSpring · 28/04/2021 21:50

Stonewall have released their guidance for people filling out this consultation. It’s the usual guff with little consideration for women.

GonadTheGaul · 30/04/2021 07:59

Just bumping this as it’s the last day to tell British Cycling what you think of their policy. The policy is only a few pages long so doesn’t take too much time to read, although you might have a lot to say about it!

Sophoclesthefox · 30/04/2021 09:42

Finally got round to filling it in! I like a deadline.

Crap policy, totally muddled, shits on women.

andyoldlabour · 30/04/2021 11:46

From that Stonewall piece.

"The definition of sex -over medicalised language and should include that it is assigned at birth"

Why woulld you take advice from any organisation which uses incorrect terminology? It should be "observed" not "assigned".

"There is no direct and consistent research to suggest that transgender female individuals (and transgender male individuals) have an athletic advantage in sportand, therefore, the majority of competitive sport policies are discriminatory against this population"

Again this is untrue. There is plenty of scientific evidence, that male bodied people have a distinct advantage when competing in the female category.

Quadzilla · 30/04/2021 11:46

Well done everyone. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this consultation. I’m not hopeful I think they’re captured and too craven to stand up for fairness. BC have not exactly got the best track record of looking after their female athletes.

Manderleyagain · 30/04/2021 13:02

I was filling in the survey, and by the time I clicked send it had closed! I have the text. I suppose I'd better email them.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 30/04/2021 15:26

@Manderleyagain (forgive me using @ but wanted to make sure you get the best chance of seeing this before it's too late) - I clicked the first link given to the survey on page 1 earlier, and got a message saying it had already closed. However, I then followed a different link lower down the page, which had an indirect link to the survey, and from there was able to complete it and have just submitted and got a completion message. So you could try that?

Also big BUMP for any other stragglers who still want to do this - get in quick using the right link and you might still manage!

Manderleyagain · 30/04/2021 21:56

Ahagwearsabonnet thank you but I missed it. There weren't any other links when I came back to it. Never mind.

CazSkids · 01/05/2021 10:51

Fair Play For Women have submitted their response (link to it here: fairplayforwomen.com/british-cyclings-transgender-policy-review/). I enjoyed reading the summary very much.

Quadzilla · 01/05/2021 14:54

It’s an excellent submission.

I just wanted to say hi to one of our watchers who appears to be monitoring this thread and has reported me (how?) for harassment to British Cycling. 👋🏼

Sophoclesthefox · 01/05/2021 15:01

@Quadzilla

What?? Quadzilla, that’s terrible. I hope all is ok with you.

Jesus. Hey, monitors. Get a fucking grip on yourselves. Women are perfectly entitled to speak up for our sports.

You really think this kind of behaviour is making people sympathetic to your cause?

Quadzilla · 01/05/2021 15:13

Thanks. Apparently we’re not allowed to talk about a certain athlete their Mum will complain.
Even though the athlete in question voluntarily went public with their situation, we still can’t talk about it. Hmm
I did wonder why the first thread about that person went puff! And why some of my posts on this thread were deleted.

Helleofabore · 01/05/2021 15:17

I just wanted to say hi to one of our watchers who appears to be monitoring this thread and has reported me (how?) for harassment to British Cycling.

That is rather chilling isn't it?

Quadzilla · 01/05/2021 15:25

It is, but also rather unsurprising.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 01/05/2021 15:28

Do sorry quadzilla Flowers

I wonder if the right side of history knows about the red guard...

Albacross · 02/05/2021 11:40

Quadrilla - the athlete in question could become an immediate hero if they’d agree to ride in the male category.

A big problem with the consultation is that it was hard to share within a club as that could be considered transphobic and uninclusive, yet people I know who are heavily into cycling and racing were completely unaware.

persistentwoman · 02/05/2021 11:44

@Quadzilla

Yet another example of how #nodebate is the only argument used to lever born males into women's sport.
persistentwoman · 02/05/2021 11:45

Sorry, my mistake, I forgot the other tactics of intimidation and bullying.

andyoldlabour · 02/05/2021 11:46

Quadzilla

Sorry to hear about that. One would have thought that we are on the right side of history, alerting people to what is happening.

Bluesername · 02/05/2021 12:44

I just wanted to say hi to one of our watchers who appears to be monitoring this thread and has reported me (how?) for harassment to British Cycling.

So now stating scientific facts and upholding women's sex-based rights is 'harrassment'? That just shows how weak the TWAW lobby's arguments are, if that's all they have.

Quadzilla · 02/05/2021 13:38

It’s so interesting. I do wonder how the person who has taken offence at this thread would have reacted if she had a daughter who was in the Great Britain squad, who’s hard work and dedication may be for nothing as a male born person might just take their place?

Quadzilla · 02/05/2021 13:58

Alba I absolutely agree.
