5 times she reported him before he murdered her, and they gave her a fine. I have no words.

What's even more shocking to me is that this happened in 2017 and this is the first I've heard of it and you wonder why? It's so shocking you'd have thought it would have been all over the national news but unfortunately it's so common place now these stories don't make it. I feel sick.

I know someone who was treated like this by the police. He hid in her loft and cut up her kids toys and the police just let him go, over and over and over.

lojojomo · 23/03/2021 13:23

As in, the police found him IN the loft and still let him go.

You couldn't make it up! What happened in the end?

Shanna Grice Flowers

Stalking terrifies me. I had a friend who had to leave the country - it was the only way she could escape the man. I think he was her driving instructor. Nutter. Nothing the police could do, apparently.

The Shana Grice case is devastating. They believed his
claims that they were still together over her, hence they fined her. He slit her throat.

There are so many cases. Katrina O'Hara was murdered by her ex, the police had taken away her phone because it was "evidence", after she complained. She couldn't phone for help. Her ex Thomas "a builder and married dad-of-four, had been given a five-year restraining order in 2014 for targeting another woman."

"She couldn't call for help as police had seized her phone"

A number of the women in this article had told police about their stalkers before they were killed:

There are still calls for a stalkers register:

"Studies have found that 83% of domestic abuse perpetrators are repeat offenders. They start off with the smaller offences, testing the waters, seeing how the police respond, and when nothing happens – in the majority of cases nothing ever happens – they are emboldened. Their offending escalates to sometimes fatal ends."
