Oh I can't even be bothered. Same old story, virtue signalling, buy our product bla bla bla.

Another one off the shopping list

Paris Lees has been the face of one of their campaigns, so I guess that is something to do with it.

Puddycatfan · 22/03/2021 23:23

FFS I only bought some today...

StillFemale · 22/03/2021 23:25

They’ve been off my shopping list since they used someone with a criminal conviction for violence as a model.

This is quite a good guide as to who owns what brand for anyone trying to avoid particular brands www.crueltyfreekitty.com/news/who-owns-what/

ErrolTheDragon · 22/03/2021 23:27

I guess the tweet is in relation to a new one which features a transgirl.

www.out.com/media/2021/3/22/pantene-features-two-moms-and-trans-daughter-heartwarming-ad

I'd better not comment further except to note two nations divided by a common language may apply.

newyearnewname123 · 23/03/2021 00:25

Long hair. That's what being a girl involves.

NiceGerbil · 23/03/2021 02:32

Boys can have long hair...??!!

Also hair is super important to the LGBT+ community?

Bald gay men? Lesbians with shaved heads?

That is GENDER. sex role.

Fucking hell.

And yes pantene previously gave us an ad with two really strong women

And then a person who has said that Street harassment is great and women/ girls who don't like it are uptight and spoiling things for the ones who do...

Alltheprettyseahorses · 23/03/2021 07:39

I've got no problem with using Lees in an advert. I do have a problem with the words they give Lees to say.

The people who wrote and signed off that tweet need to be informed that you do not wokescold your customers because if feedback is overwhelmingly/exclusively negative then the brand has made a massive mistake. The company also needs to understand how sexist and regressive its current position is. Tl:dr, who do these muppets think they are?!

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 23/03/2021 07:43

Pffft

Pan2 · 23/03/2021 07:52

Another customer lost here.
Thanks OP.

Usagi12 · 23/03/2021 09:20

Haven't used them for years, I used to know a very senior marketing manager with them who told me it was shit.

ArabellaScott · 23/03/2021 09:25

Coats the hair in plastic, no?

Akela64 · 23/03/2021 09:29

As a household we have changed to bars for our hair and body products. The initial outlay is high, but they last. I've had the same shampoo and conditioner bars for over 3 months (short hair, 2 x a week wash). For my daughters who all wash their longer hair every other day a bar will last over a month. I like the results, it's plastic free and and mainly small producers. Win win win.

ArabellaScott · 23/03/2021 09:31

What kind of bars, Akela? Do you keep a soap dish in the shower for them?

yourhairiswinterfire · 23/03/2021 09:42

@ArabellaScott

I used to Pantene in an emergency if I couldn't get my brand (before alopecia).

It made my hair feel like a synthetic wig, even after a thorough rinsing, and my hair would be practically dripping with grease the next day 🤢

yourhairiswinterfire · 23/03/2021 09:43

*Used to use.

merrymouse · 23/03/2021 09:44

It’s not surprising - their business model is based on the idea that women must have long swishy hair. I’d say they are pretty invested in the concept of gender. I wouldn’t expect them to say anything different.

ArabellaScott · 23/03/2021 10:07

Now there's a tagline, winterfire! -

'like wearing a greasy wig'

You're welcome, Pantene, I waive my copywriter fees for you on this occassion.

CornishPastyDownUnder · 23/03/2021 10:12

love Pantene-2 of us have X-long swishy hair-lol..leaves it shiny&tangle free after we been in the pool or ocean for hours, cant be bad...maybe the Oz version has different ingredients?

There's a note on the wall in my hairdressers stating that that Pantene-users need to let their stylists know, as any colour treatments will often not 'take' due to the build up of silicon on the hair when using. Good stuff! 🤣

SunsetBeetch · 23/03/2021 10:36

@newyearnewname123

Long hair. That's what being a girl involves.
But I thought it wasn't about stereotypes? I'm surprised that Pantene aren't being called transphobic...

I think it's strange to use a child for such an advert. Hardly their target market.

MaudTheInvincible · 23/03/2021 11:02

@ArabellaScott

Coats the hair in plastic, no?

Yes. It is pretty rank stuff.

Akela64 · 23/03/2021 13:30

@arabellaScott I use the heyland and whittle sisal bag for body. Soap is amazing. Simply replace the soap when needed. Its usually in their sale at half price. Soap lasts at least 6 weeks and bag for over a year.

Shampoo and condition are ethique from Holland and Barrett. Pricey, (£12.50) but again I buy when they are on offer and got 2 for 1 after christmas. Next time might try bain-savon.co.uk. Good reviews from good housekeeping

ArabellaScott · 23/03/2021 13:39

Fab, thanks so much! I am intrigued by the idea of soap bars. Trying to phase out plastic one thing at a time. Smile

Unless they’re lesbian mums, obv. Then short hair all the way!
