Investigated for vandalism by the police for CHALK!
Guess that makes any wee bairn who’s ever played hopscotch in the street a potential criminal then.

I just started the same thread. I'll ask for mine to be deleted.

EdgedInBlue · 22/03/2021 10:24

Great minds!

Good god.

Great article though.

Brave woman, Mary.

GCAcademic · 22/03/2021 10:29

Scotland really is a police state, isn't it?

Shaggervalley · 22/03/2021 10:30

She's great ! Good on her . And ffs to the police going to her door .

SunsetBeetch · 22/03/2021 10:31

I see Scottish Police also have so little actual crime to pursue they can go after people for hurty words. Easily removable hurty words.

BetsyM00 · 22/03/2021 10:34

There's a wee video of an earlier example of said chalking at the bottom of this page: forwomen.scot/21/02/2021/women-wont-wheesht/7/

Well done Mary!

Brave woman! Well done, Mary. Smile

Amazing that football fans managed to completely trash George Square (which is right outside the City Chambers) yet a woman writing chalk graffitti is getting a police visit. Absurd.

Igmum · 22/03/2021 10:45

Well done Mary and oh my, violence against women is effectively decriminalised but a 52-year old with a bit of chalk and the Police are at the door. I hope they visit each and every TRA who threatens, intimidates and incites.

Tibtom · 22/03/2021 10:45

No criminality was establish - and yet they had time to make a house call and not give their names.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 22/03/2021 10:51

Was anybody harmed by the words? No. It was a statement of fact. Did it cost money to remove? No, we have plenty of free rain in Scotland to do that.
So why the reaction? (over reaction).

Iamhangingin · 22/03/2021 11:09

I don't understand, police came to her house, not in uniform and would not give their names? I expect any one in a professional capacity to have ID on show, that there is someone I can call if I want to confirm their identity. That doesn't seem safe. Obviously chalk is pretty serious crime issue for Scotland but even so.......

theThreeofWeevils · 22/03/2021 11:21

According to the article they were in uniform but didn't give their names

ErrolTheDragon · 22/03/2021 11:28

Maybe it's unfair to be minded of the Bold Gendarmes?

Roonerspismed · 22/03/2021 11:32

I’m disgusted by the Scottish government’s attitude to women and I hope they see that in the forthcoming elections

MaudTheInvincible · 22/03/2021 11:38

Well done that woman!

Good article, though I would have preferred them to point out that the only women's groups the Scottish government listened to were the very same ones they fund and who they coincidentally agree with, despite there being plenty of independent groups giving differing opinions.

ArabellaScott · 22/03/2021 13:54

That looks just about perfect, Errol. Bitterly appropriate given recent events.

We're public guardians, bold but wary,

And of ourselves, we take good care,

To risk our precious lives, we're chary,

When danger looms, we're never there

But when we meet some helpless woman,

Or little boys that do no harm

Chorus:

We run them in, We run them in,

We run them in, We run them in

...

If gentlemen will make a riot

And punch each other's heads at night

We're quite disposed to keep it quiet,

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 22/03/2021 15:58

I see Mary has protected her twitter account, I hope the “be kind” crowd haven’t been sending too many horrible threats Hmm

Cannot believe the state of my country sending the polis round FFS Sad

EdgedInBlue · 22/03/2021 17:19

She's been locking it and unlocking it all day. Suspect it's only unlocked when she's around to monitor it

OP posts:
Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 22/03/2021 17:41

Ahh that’s good to know Edged I don’t visit twitter often so haven’t seen that.

334bu · 22/03/2021 17:52

I think there was an attempt somewhere to ban " peevers" because it was messy , but not sure where? By the way is peevers just a Weegie term?

Ifyourefeelingsinister · 22/03/2021 18:27

Well done Mary!
